and the Louisiana Purchase did tend to liven up his presidency just a bit, I think. I do like your list, though. WORTHY Democrats, all. :toast:

Hmmm... lists are so subjective.
I would probably put Madison after Jefferson just because of the constitution and all. Not sure I'd give JFK such a high ranking.
Clinton did some very good stuff but ... telecom bill and NAFTA were stinkers.
Aside from Lincoln and TR would any repugs make a top ten list? Starting at the bottom it would be mostly repugs.

Although he actually did start some of the deregulating and union animosity and shift away from liberal social programs. Otherwise, I think he had a good heart and a lot of right ideas too, like energy and he most certainly played a huge role in bringing down the Soviet Union.

15. Jackson was a great man, but...

his treachery toward the Cherokees is a blot on his record. I'd swap places with Truman and Jackson on your list. Otherwise, it's just great. :hi:

16. I agree. Jackson was horrible regarding Native Americans

I judge figures from past eras by the standards of that era. Even people like Jefferson and Lincoln who were progressive in their day would be very reactionary if they were transported to 2008.
