I'll tell you who won the debate tonight...The American People Won!
They won because they got to watch three intelligent people discuss the issues. They won because no matter what happens one of those smart people will be in the WH and we will have a congress controlled by the Democrats.

The American people won because the era of the repukes will soon be OVER!

3. I understand what you're saying...
but Dennis never had a chance in winning the election and everyone knew it. The real contenders were the ones that were there, IMO.

8. we all lost- unless you like the corporate media making your decisions
Dennis has 'no chance' because of the corporate media.

The reason they do not include him is they think he might win

12. That poll is an online one and hardly a consensus of the American people...
It got those results because someone here on DU posted the link and DUer's voted.

Dennis has no chance because people won't vote for him. It's been said here at DU plenty of times. He runs to be heard. No one expects him to win. He'll get 2-4% of the vote and that's it.

21. He won the PDA poll, the DFA poll- activists who really care about the state of the country
Edited on Wed Jan-16-08 12:27 AM by Blue Congress
and he use to win all the polls here before people started pushing Edwards, and the corporate meme that Kucinich is unelectable.

And it doesn't help his poll standings when the Corporate controlled polls leave his name out of the choices.

25. Well, people choose who they want...
I'm not one to assume that because my choice didn't win or get included was because of corporate America.

While I like Kucinich and respect the hell out of him, he's not electable, IMO, and probably never will be. In fact, I like him where he is because I think it's where he does the most good. He's not constrained in the way a president would be.

34. True, but PDA isn't indicative of middle-of-the-road types who typically aren't so passionate.
I'm pretty well informed on the issues, and Kucinich wins hands down in my judgment, but not everybody is as left wing as I am, nor are they as informed on things such as civil liberties or the environment.

23. Sorry, don't buy that. I would have liked to see Kucinich at the table,
yet I don't rely on the media to make an informed decision for me, I do that on my own.

24. You may do that but the lemmings/sheeple don't! They believe all on the idiot box!
So, in that vein of thinking, the M$M did make your choice for you!

37. So, if the idiot box had a broader format would that be better or worse?
I don't get the slam on the medium or the 'lemmings', who 'believe all on the idiot box', while advocating more influence of TV in politics.

I can see the point about including Kucinich or not (I would have liked to hear him at the table), but decrying the impact of TV while decrying the absence of a candidate on TV seems conflicted - or hyperbole.

Have you been listening at all? (maybe that's why people at DU keep posting things like 'WAKE UP!")

Have you noticed that a story from the AP is the same as a story at ABC and on your local rag?

Have you noticed at all that it's all the same?

Even if he couldn't win he brings ideas and convictions that are truly Democratic principals which the winning candidate should be adopting...that is why he should have been there.

36. I tend to agree. I listened closely and heard euphemisms and weasel-wording.
Lots of 'flighty' rhetoric and virtually NOTHING really firm and LIBERAL. I just don't get the sense that "CHANGE" is much more than a slogan.

20. 3 people bloviating about how they will change the country...
when, at best, they are talking about changes so miniscule that you might as well talk about the status quo. Candidates so similar in policy positions, that, at best, it degenerates the Primaries into a personality popularity contest, and you claim that the American People won? What the fuck did they win?

27. Aren't most of them a personality popularity contest?
Think about it. A person walks into a voting booth to pick the best person for the job...most of the time it turns out to be the one they like the best. That's some of how * got the votes he did...besides cheating.

And that just tells me how America ended up in the sad state of affairs its in now.
I frankly don't care if the candidate is a complete asshole, I care about POLICY, period. I find these personality contests to be sickening and a waste of my and the country's time. Media driven drivel, that's all it is.

29. Notice how not one of them mentioned NAFTA or CAFTA
without Dennis there to point out the source of the loss of jobs? They all seemed quick to mention the credit crisis, but didn't go near the broader problems of globalization beyond urging more support for education. Education for what? Flipping hamburgers?
