Who will the media ultimately choose for President?
Will this person continue the empire project in earnest?

3. I don't think so.. not yet at least.
Bear in mind that the media is just fronting for the corporate deep pockets. They will not stand still for Huckabee or Edwards. They don't trust McCain, but think he could be strong-armed. They would make accommodations with Clinton and, with a few concessions, Obama...

They'd be quite happy with Romney (their first choice, but they underestimated the fundy opposition). They'd be happy with Giuliani because his control freak tendencies are only exercised on the powerless. They were under the impression that Thompson was alive, and were hoping that he'd "catch fire", which, (being the soggy mess of moldy cardboard that he is,) he hasn't.

If the above wasn't true, we'd never have heard a PEEP out of Bloomberg, an insider of the billionaire's club.

8. Quite a few people I know, both Dem and Repub would vote for
him if he entered.

I have not done any research, but will if he enters the race.

7. They are whittling the field down and directing people
through their actions. Are you sure?
