When Bank of America needed "cleaning up," they called State Street Bank's former General Counsel

Ah, yes, sports fans! The same old, same old players on the financials field are looking tired and haggard today.

When Bank of America got "caught" playing fast and loose with the regs a few years ago by BushCo.'s SEC, BoA saw the light, and asked http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=maureen+scannell+bateman+bank+america+%22general+counsel%22+%22state+street%22">Maureen Scannell Bateman, former General Counsel of State Street Corporation, to come be the fixer.

That's right, Tom! Diehard Bush League fans will also recall that http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=maureen+scannell+bateman+priest+abuse">Maureen played special teams for the Boston Archdiocese during the height of the priest abuse scandal, too. Who can forget the fancy footwork she showed when she lightly punted on criticizing the now-extradition-free Cardinal, living in exile in Rome? Is there any mess this http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=maureen+scannell+bateman+%22state+street%22">gal can't cover up?

Oh, I agree, Howard! And would you look at the size of her signing bonuses: http://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?company=bateman&CIK=&filenum=&State=&SIC=&owner=include&action=getcompany">stock options under two listings, and an http://sec.edgar-online.com/2001/02/16/0000912057-01-006183/Section27.asp">offer letter that has some rather intriguing clauses in it, given State Street's well-known problems with pesky women's rights, minority, and LGBT issues at the time she was hired. One hesitates to use the term "fenestration decoration," here, but gosh, darn it, Tom, I call 'em like I see 'em.

Well, Howard, some of our listeners may not know that - like so many other Bush Leaguers - http://www.google.com/search?q=%22robert+e.+scannell%22+%27general+counsel%22+at%26t&hl=en&filter=0">Maureen's brother Robert also played the game. He was General Counsel of AT&T (American Telephone & Telegraph), where he oversaw a number of secret cases to help protect America's ability to spy on its own citizens, and to protect AT&T's rights to profit, liability-free.

The officials on the field should call the penalty on the play any minute now.

Yup, any minute now.
