Bush's primary goal between now and next January?
..It is to create conditions whereby the troops cannot get out of Iraq. That is his legacy, for good or bad. And he is sticking with it.

Yesterday, he promised the Arabs another $20 billion in weapons, on the condition they would turn on the spigots and keep the economy from sliding too deeply into a recession before he escapes office. At the same time, he promise a 25% increase in aid to the Israelis. It's like the guy take Fort Knox with him when he goes abroad. He's in his own little candy store.

But his primary mission is to keep our troops in Iraq. He wants to make it impossible for the Democrats to withdraw anytime in the near future. Otherwise, they will be blamed for the disaster of his making.

The Democrats should announce their intent to have elections immediately in Iraq, under International oversight. And the Iraqi people will get to decide whether or not Americans should stay in their country. Beofre they vote, they should know that the welfare they have been receiving from George W Bush will come to an immediate end.
