Jury convicts man who says he robbed for CIA

BOISE, Idaho - A Boise man who argued he robbed two banks in Boise at the behest of the CIA has been convicted of two counts of felony robbery.

It took the jury only a few hours Friday to convict Faron Hawkins, 49, of robbing two banks in 2005 and 2006. The verdict followed four days of testimony at a trial in which Hawkins acted as his own attorney.

Hawkins told the jury he had trained at CIA headquarters in Langley, Va., at a secret facility he dubbed "the Farm."

He claimed that he gave all proceeds from the two robberies -- which he estimated at about $30,000 -- to a mysterious operative who went by the name of "Nigel." ...
