Huge, silent UFO startles Texas town
Source: AP

STEPHENVILLE, Tex. — In this farming community where nightfall usually brings clear, starry skies, residents are abuzz over reported sightings of what many believe is a UFO.

Several dozen people — including a pilot, county constable and business owners — insist they have seen a large silent object with bright lights flying low and fast. Some reported seeing fighter jets chasing it.

“People wonder what in the world it is because this is the Bible Belt, and everyone is afraid it's the end of times,” said Steve Allen, a freight company owner and pilot who said the object he saw last week was a mile long and half a mile wide. “It was positively, absolutely nothing from these parts.”

According to Google Maps, Stephenville is 60 miles NW of Crawford. Is there a connection here? ;)

What do apes, orangs, and chimps think of their human relatives? Do they disclaim us?

The chimps probably want to sue some DUers for associating a certain felonious politico with their superior species!

73. Let's be fair. Startled people fall back on their dumb preconceived ideas.
$10 says that if half the people here saw the UFO they would say "being a DU member, I assumed it was a Blackwater UFO sent by Cheney".

78. Please keep in mind
it's very likely a sizable portion of this population would not be able to tell you with certainty that the Earth in fact moves about the Sun, and not the other way around, and a likely subset of that group is sure of it "because the bible says so" (true or not).

Now consider that Huckabee is their man, and you'll see how dangerous such ignorance is.

Sad, but... I can't decide whether that's snark or not...

I've seen a few UFOs in my lifetime and each time I was so startled and had such a hard time wrapping my head around what I was seeing that I couldn't have taken a photo if my Nikon was in my hot little hand. I think the same goes for most people. My father actually lucked out one time and saw a cigar shaped UFO over a cluster of trees at twilight, just hanging there silently. Dad had his camcorder handy and started filming-but because the craft was about the same chroma and value as the sky the camcorder wouldn't focus on it. My father started fussing with the camcorder so that he could get it on manual focus-when he finally did he lifted it to his eye only to have the craft shoot straight up into the sky vertically and disappear. I have a feeling that a lot of UFO sightings are just as frustrating for the witnesses!

What version of the Bible are they reading down there? Elijah's chariot isn't an End Times Story. I think they're a tad confused between the so-called Prophecies of Nostradamus and the Bible. Makes me wonder what/who they're worshiping on Sunday.

79. UFOS IN THE BIBLE?
UFOS IN THE BIBLE?

Although many traditional Jews, Christians, and Muslims would probably reject this idea with little thought, it seems likely that similar phenomena were observed in biblical times. One can read the scriptures with only a little background knowledge and discover numerous examples of anomalous aerial craft appearing in the sky. We find dozens of shining clouds, balls of fire, wheels, and flaming chariots which bear a striking resemblance to modern UFOs.
Here are a few general quotes from the Torah which help to make this point:

"Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind..." (Jeremiah 4:13).
"Behold, the Lord rideth upon a swift cloud..." (Isaiah 19:1).
"And the Lord will create upon every dwelling place of mount Zion, and upon her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night..." (Isaiah 4:5).
There are also many specific cases described in both Testaments of the Bible in which strange objects appear in the sky. Let's look at a few:
Throughout their wanderings in the desert, the Elohim guide the Hebrews from above, riding ahead in various craft. Perhaps the best example takes place during the exodus from Egypt: "... the children of Israel went up and harnessed out of the land of Egypt. And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light..." (Exodus 13:18,21). The story continues with a pursuit by the Egyptian army. "And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them... but it gave light by night to : so that the came not near the other all the night." (Exodus 14:19-20).

Since literal clouds don't have fiery pillars, one can reasonably conclude that the object was something very different -- perhaps a UFO with a descending beam of light. One is also forced to wonder how the Israelites got across the Red Sea. Could they have been flown across?

The prophet Ezekiel, a frequent recipient of extraterrestrial visitations, described a strange object in the sky: "And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it..." (Ezekiel 1:4).

This could very well be a modern-day account of a UFO sighting: A swirling wind accompanied a huge disk-shaped object surrounded by a bright glow. Ezekiel goes on to describe the strange craft descending from the sky, noting its resemblance to a spinning wheel and mentioning that it is piloted by a powerful-looking being.

In another incredible incident, the transfiguration of Jesus Christ, we find an excellent array of UFO-related phenomena (Matthew 17:2,5-6). First of all, Jesus Christ brought his disciples up on a mountain, where he showed himself as the glorious figure of a nordic-superhuman. "And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light...." Then a UFO appears, provoking intense fear in the onlookers. "... behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud.... And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid." Finally, we read in Luke's version of the story that "... they feared as they entered into the cloud." (Luke 9:34).

87. Sure -- Thanks!
But to conflate end times and UFO's is going a little far. Esp. since the whole 'End Times' bs comes from a 19th century book when UFO's weren't on anybody's radar -- so to speak.

CHANGE THE WORLD!

"DECIDE WHETHER WE SHOULD SHOW UP!"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Whoever transmitted this translated message to you is irrelevant, and should remain anonymous in your mind. It is what you will do with this message which matters !

Each one of you wishes to exercise her/his free will and experience happiness.

These are attributes that were shown to us and to which we now have access. Your free will depends upon the knowledge you have of your own power. Your happiness depends upon the love that you give and receive.

Like all conscious races at this stage of progress, you may feel isolated on your planet. This impression makes you sure of your destiny. Yet, you are at the brink of big upheavals that only a minority is aware of.

It is not our responsibility to modify your future without you choosing it. Consider this message as a worldwide referendum! And your answer as a ballot!

Who are we ?

Neither your scientists nor your religious representatives speak unanimously about the unexplained celestial events that mankind has witnessed for thousands of years. To know the truth, one must face it without the filter of one's beliefs, however respectable they may be.

A growing number of anonymous researchers of yours are exploring new knowledge paths and are getting very close to reality. Today, your civilisation is flooded with an ocean of information of which only a tiny part, the less upsetting one, is notably diffused.

What in your history seemed ridiculous or improbable has often become possible, then realised, in particular in the last fifty years. Be aware that the future will be even more surprising. You will discover the worst as well as the best.

Like billions others in this galaxy, we are conscious creatures that some name "extra-terrestrials", even though reality is subtler.

There is no fundamental difference between you and us, save for the experience of certain stages of evolution. Like in any other organised structure, hierarchy exists in our internal relationships. Ours is based upon the wisdom of several races. It is with the approval of this hierarchy that we turn to you.

Like most of you, we are in the quest of the Supreme Being. Therefore we are not gods or lesser gods but virtually your equals in the Cosmic Brotherhood.

Physically, we are somewhat different from you but for most of us humanoid-shaped.

Our existence is a reality but the majority of you does not perceive it yet. We are not mere observations, we are consciences just like you. You fail to apprehend us because we remain invisible to your senses and measure instruments most of the time.

We wish to fill this void at this moment in your history. We made this collective decision but this is not enough. We need yours. Through this message, you become the decision-makers ! You personally.

We have no human representative on Earth who could guide your decision.

Why aren't we visible ?

At certain stages of evolution, cosmic "humanities” discover new forms of science beyond the apparent control of matter. Structured dematerialisation and materialisation are part of them. This is what your humanity has reached in a few laboratories, in close collaboration with other "extra-terrestrial" creatures at the cost of hazardous compromises that remain purposedly hidden from you by some of your representatives.

Apart from the aerial or spatial objects or phenomena known about by your scientific community, that you call 'UFOs, there are essentially multidimensional manufactured spaceships that apply these capacities.

Many human beings have been in visual, auditory, tactile or psychic contact with such ships, some of which are under occult powers that "govern" you. The scarcity of your observations is due to the outstanding advantages provided by the dematerialised state of these ships.

By not witnessing them by yourself, you cannot believe in their existence. We fully understand this.

The majority of these observations are made on an individual basis so as to touch the soul and not to modify any organised system. This is deliberate from the races that surround you but for very different reasons and results.

For negative multidimensional beings that play a part in the exercise of power in the shadow of human oligarchy, discretion is motivated by their will to keep their existence and seizure unknown.

For us, discretion is motivated by the respect of the human free will that people can exercise to manage their own affairs so that they can reach technical and spiritual maturity on their own. Humankind's entrance into the family of galactic civilisations is greatly expected.

We can appear in broad daylight and help you attain this union. We haven't done it so far, as too few of you have genuinely desired it, because of ignorance, indifference or fear, and because the emergency of the situation did not justify it. Many of those who study our appearances count the lights in the night without lighting the way. Often they think in terms of objects when it is all about conscious beings.

This is just aportion....VERY long... :)

I myself have had an experience not unlike this. I live around 20 miles from an Air Force Base and have always attributed it to some experimental craft.

“You hear about big bass or big buck in the area, but this is a different deal,” Mr. Sorrells said. “It feels good to hear that other people saw something, because that means I'm not crazy.”

Mr. Sorrells said he has seen the object several times. He said he watched it through his rifle's telescopic lens and described it as very large and without seams, nuts or bolts.

Edit, I am sort of a redneck but this is really rednecky

Texans just aim their guns at 'em as target practice.

Then, they go BBQ the cattle who were saved from mutilation.
