Poll question: Can Sen. Obama be trusted he will NOT embrace another bigot if elected?
Many of his supporters concede it was a mistake to have someone like McClurkin (who says homosexuality is evil and a choice), perform during a campaign event.

But in his defense, they argue he's more pro-gay than Hillary and Edwards and gay people should not judge him on this alone.

Personally...the problem I have with Obama (above and beyond the McClurkin incident)is he can no longer be trusted.

If he'll cave and hire a notorious homophobe on the campaign trail, he'll most certainly do it again for political purposes in the White House.

However, quite a few Obama supporters cannot explain why gay people should trust him, other than to say he supports civil unions, etc., etc.,

I don't think that argument washes.

Therefore, my question: Should Obama be given a second chance as we approach Tsunami Tuesday and beyond?

Does his mostly positive stance on major gay issues earn him the benefit of the doubt and the support of the gay community?

4. Having the "gay endorsement" makes 10% of voters more likely to vote for you...
and 40% of voters LESS likely to vote for you.

Also, 33% of gay people voted for George W. Bush in 2004. Compare that with 14% of Jews and 2% of African-Americans who support Bush and The GOP.

As distasteful as I find Obama's campaign on this point, pragmatically speaking, what he is doing can only help him, unless right-wing smear machines manage to paint it as a "flip-flop."

6. The question is not whether it will get him votes - it is if he can be trusted...
what is the point of electing a Democrat if they treat me the same way the gop does?

Ask any candidate.

This is politics. Since when are politicians honest or nice?

10. That sort of "Learned Helplessness" is both self-defeating and somewhat justified.
However, there are more reasons to vote against the Repukes anyway.

A Democratic President might throw you under the bus, but the Republicans are more likely to put you in a freightcar.

A Vote for Huckabee...
