Why isn't Edwards staying out of the Obama/Clinton fray?
I was thinking his plan was that the two would knock each other down to the point that he would become the consensus candidate that almost all could support, be that in the late primaries or at the convention.

But he seems to be throwing little punches in still, which surprises me.

I support him, and I think he probably knows what he is doing, but I just don't see it yet.

2. I missed it...
how has he gotten involved?

In any case, I think you're right, he probably knows what he's doing. Maybe he thinks he can help take down one or the other now, or he genuinely has an opinion about what's going on that he wants to express.

10. He condemned Clinton's comments
about the Civil Rights movement in relationship to Obama - I think that's what the OP was referencing. If that is so, I have to say, Edwards is a class act and handled it brilliantly.

12. Thanks. In that case...
that only helps Edwards, especially in South Carolina.

Rightly or wrongly (I believe rightly) many blacks feel slighted/betrayed by the coded-language that has come out of the Clinton camp lately. By condemning those comments, Edwards elevates himself in the eyes of all those who see that language for what it is: loaded, coded language.

4. I agree. I will never understand it. He hurt himself in NH
I believe when he tried to attack Hilary.

He can explain his change proposal without being so direct.

He should just work his supporters and let them do what they
are going to do.

His advisors should be smart enough and know politics well
enough to know that the odds are that Hilary will get the
nomination. Choose battles very carefully.

6. Agreed. You'd think he would only profit from letting them cut each other down.

Maybe he actually wants not only to exclude Hillary, but also a chance to have Obama as a running mate???

7. He is speaking to a southern crowd
Integration was and is very personal to them. If you noticed there were black people in the crowd. If he didn't say anything good about Obama, he could be held up as a racist. He did the right thing.

8. I want him for president, so anything he does is fine with me. However.....
... I'm also DELIGHTED that he's talking truth. He's the only one so you can imagine how important I think it is that Edwards continue to campaign. The truth about corporations and their exploitation and destruction of this country has to get out to every state.

9. Excellent question. He is probably hurting Obama and helping Clinton

by this perception of the two of them ganging up on her. So unless that's his purpose, I don't know what his game is. He drove me away when he started attacking Clinton, for what it's worth.
