Analysis on DailyKos: Obama has the Best Environmental Record
In an attempt to elevate the discorse in our community, I'm going to discuss possibly the single most important policy among Democrats: Who is really really Green

First, I'd point you in the direction of an exceptionally excellent and fully objective website here, where each candidate is scored on their being Green: http://www.lcv.org/...

For purposes of this diary, we will exclude the Republicans from our discussion and focus on our Four Green Democrats: Obama, Clinton, Edwards and Kucinich

First, can you guess who scores the highest among the League of Conservation Voters?

Kucinich Right? I mean, he's vegan. In discussions of Environment, he even discusses how the food he eats is Eco-Friendlier... Well, maybe It's John Edwards, Champion of the Progressive Movement? What about Hillary Clinton? Green? Yes, very...

However the Greenest of them all if none other than Sen. Barack Obama. Here are the Lifetime Scorecards of each candidate:

Barack Obama : 96
Dennis Kucinich : 92
Hillary Clinton : 90
John Edwards : 59

3. Interesting stats
Someone here at DU snorted in righteous disbelief and indignation when I suggested the same thing.

Thanks for posting.

4. For those who don't follow the link, you should note

that LCV counts a missed vote as a "bad" vote, hence Edwards' low score - since he hasn't been in the Senate since it reverted to Dem control, he got hammered by republicans scheduling votes so that he would miss them.

I learned this when I was defending Kerry, because the same thing happened to him - and Senators don't get much greener than John Kerry.

That said, I hope folks will go read the diary, because the diarist did a good job laying out the positions of the candidates. Readers might want to note the abundance of specifics in Obama's plan.

On edit, according to the comments, actually Edwards' score of 59 was "real", as it didn't include any missed votes, only "bad" votes. But he did have two very bad years in 2003 and 2004, for the reason I stated.

5. It shows that he is more than just good speeches. Illionois rated him 100% on women's issues too.

6. Al Gore has shown us that the highest environmental standards mean nothing
when you support "free trade" with countries that observe no environmental regulation. :eyes:
