It appears to be a script they are following... silent until the Democratic Nominee is selected, and then feign shock and amazement that there could be any negative information coming to light about the Democratic Nominee.

I heard about teams of Repub opposition researchers working over Obama records and background years ago, before most people even dreamed that Obama might be a candidate.

The vault holding oppos research on Hillary is combined with the one they built for Bill Clinton and used during the entire two terms he was President.

The barest oppo cupboard is the one with John Edwards' name on it. And he is the candidate they fear the most, and their campaign to have the MSM ignore him has worked best.

the Dem nominee will find out what's in store. It will make the swiftboaters look like a bunch of Sunday school teachers. This year the r's don't have the advantage of the incumbancy, and they have a very weak field, so expect the attacks to be vicious and personal. If it's Hillary, we'll get a rehash of all the crap they pulled on Bill Clinton only laced with a generous serving of sexism. If it's Obama the race-baiting will be constant. If it's Edwards, expect to heard "trial lawyer" mentioned about a billion times.

No matter who it is, they'll be pummeled, battered, sucker-punched, and just plain beat up. The success of the Dem will depend in large degree on his or her ability to give as good as they get.
