Poll question: Has Bushco successfully pushed the entire American political spectrum even further to the Right?

Having to respond to insanity with logic has a peculiar legitimising effect on the insane position. Because we have to use the same tools to counter mistaken thinking and outright lunacy it's possible for disinterested observers to conflate the lunacy with mistaken thinking and thus, potentially, to correct thinking, or at least to credit the lunacy with the status of "viable position, if questionable".

Agree?

I'd say that pendulum is swinging the other way with ferocity. They screwed up, big time!

3. I certainly hope you're right.

A left-wing US could be a very, very wonderful thing....

4. "left wing" really was the Middle
until the 80's. At least in perception.

7. Me too. I don't know that the US will ever swing all the way to the left...
hard to imagine. I do think it will go past center toward the left somewhat....at least I hope so. ;-)

8. further? No, it is swinging back to the left...
Until policies that are offensive to "socially conservative" Christians get play again, then they will come out with their guns blazing with their anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-anything-not-in-their-best-interest bullshit and swing it back.

9. Yes, and now the pendulum is swinging back to the center-right, where it was before.
America isn't turning left, and won't in my lifetime either.

11. Because we would need a Great Depression, part deux, to actually trigger such a shift...
This country is a center-right country, largely socially conservative, and economically to the right of most of the rest of the world. That's not going to change in a decade, nor in two decades or more. The United States will muddle along, progressing further behind the rest of the Industrialized nations on both social and economic issues. I don't see any key changes to this, whether the Democratic Party(Center-right), or Republican Party(Far-Right) is in charge.
