Tony Snow dominated and controlled "Real Time with Bill Maher"
Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 02:05 AM by Mortos
and, for the most part, they let him. He used the same smug condescension to stifle legitimate debate and criticism as he did at Fox noise and the White House. He is a blatant liar and a piece of shit and I am sorry the cancer didn't get him like it would have gotten any one of the millions of people in this country without his tax payer supported health insurance.

We cannot, cannot, cannot let these fucking liars get away with lying.

We have to confront them on their lies and not let them equivocate or slither away from the responsiblity of their failures.

Edited on Sat Jan-12-08 02:15 AM by Mortos
Catherine Crier allowed Tony Snow to cut her off and verbally beat her down every time she tried to make a point. Even the Rolling Stone guy was cowed by Snow. Someone needed to stand up and just call him a fucking liar and enabler of the most corrupt miserable administration ever. They didn't

15. I didn't agree with Cuban on everything. But he explained his viewpoint
and his reasons well. Tabbi said Johns message did resonate and he wasn't cowed that I saw. Catherine just seemed digusted. She got some good jabs in. She actually looked like she was trying not to explode! They seemed to treat Smow like he was the tool he is.

3. I would NEVER want cancer to get anyone...
I watched it kill my dad and it's something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy...even Tony Snow. I despise the man, but I will never bear him ill will like that at all.

It's just not right. We're no better than them if we do.

9. I wish them all ill
They are horrible people who intentionally have damaged our country and caused the death of tens if not hundreds of thousands of people. They are vile and destructive and they deserve to reap what they have sown.

and I won't put myself on their level by reacting as they would. I'm better than them. Impeach, indict and imprison are the wishes I have for them.

6. What do you expect with the writers on strike ...
The brains behind all these shows are gone. And, while they might try to go on without the writers, I think we all can agree, that is not a wise idea -- given their last performances/shows.

Shame on me? Shame on them and shame on us all for not confronting them and holding them accountable. And shame on you for indirectly defending him. We are such pussies sometimes. We have to play nice and be the "better" people. Well look at what that has cost us.

13. He got called down all night long...
He just had more talking points that the rest could counter. Jeez he's full of it.

That being said I could have countered more of his TPs than the panel but they did pretty good.

I liked the show.

17. I thought the Rolling Stone guy played Snow like a cheap fiddle
He just sat there grinning at him all night and after snow babbled some talking point Taibbi would shoot off a zinger at him with a condescending little grin on his face (same kind of shit repubs pull all the time). It got under snow's skin more than once and had him screaming back at Taibbi on one occasion.

BTW I wouldn't wish death on snow, but I must confess that more than once tonight I wished all the other guests would jump him and pound the piss out of him. Not very progressive of me I realize but fuck it. The asshole deserved it.

Edited to add: I love how Catherine Crier got really pissed at Tony over the economy stuff. And I really loved her idea of measuring it by Jane and John Q. Citizen, not on CEO's and Wall Street. Amen, Catherine, amen!

23. Did anyone catch the Overtime Show? A web question about Impeachment was brought up
and Catherine Crier gave a handful of reasons why Shrub should be impeached and Snow started to spew his frigging lies, not giving Catherine a chance to rebut.

It seems that at least the last two times Snow was on, Maher had allowed him to lie on and on without check.

24. Tony made the comment that sites like DU
(he didn't mention DU specifically) were gloating over the news of his cancer. However, I remember when we learned that Snow had cancer how much compassion there was at this site.
I also don't accept his argument that the vicious attacks on Hillary Clinton from right wing radio, which are not issues based but are personal in nature, are equal to the isolated remarks on blogs/forums which celebrated his illness.
As Maher pointed out, disagree with Hillary on the issues all you want. But why the venomous hatred for this woman? She's a moderate politician. And syndicated radio talk shows spew forth lies and pure hate towards her every day.
Then Snow equates that constant barrage of personal attacks from the horde of right wing talkers as equal to the few pathetic souls who were gleeful about his cancer.
I don't think the man has any perspective.

25. Did We Watch The Same Show?

Tony Snow got his ass handed to him, by Taibbi, Cuban and Maher. The audience ridiculed him; I think he got honest applause exactly one time during the course of the show.

I'm glad that he's looking better, but Snow and his idiotic pro-Bush comments got slammed, effectively and repeatedly......

26. he dominated the discussion
He cut off anyone who tried to point out his bullshit and he talked longer and louder than anyone else on the panel. The audience obviously didn't by his b.s. but he still spewed right wing talking points non-stop and wasn't credibly challenged on most of them.

28. Like I Say, I Don't Think We Watched The Same Show

The longer and louder he talked, the more inane and empty Snow's comments were. For Crissakes, how effective can a right-wing blowhard be, trying to make a convincing argument that things are going really swell in Iraq these days? I think you're vastly overrating Snow's performance......
