Geez you can't swing a mouse around here without someone comparing this year to the nomination of Mondale in '80.

#1, can anything be MORE irrelevant?
#2, did he not get CRUSHED?
#3, ... well, just WHY?

in Minnesota when he ran for Wellstone's chair (Bush had given Coleman "the kiss" that I saw in all the 2002 fixed elections)

2. I wil never get sick of hearing Mondale's name
He was one of the best vice presidents this country has ever had. He was a damned fine senator. He did us proud as ambassador to Japan. Mondale rocks!

7. Well, maybe I'm just noticing it more 'cause
it has been in a lot of the threads I'm reading.

Being near 50 percent is huge as well. It's also of note that, as Jay Cost, pointed out, Clinton's win in New Hampshire put together the Mondale coalition so perfectly that she did it better than he did. She won NH. Mondale didn't!

As I said, Clinton's is the type of electorate that has delivered Democrats the nomination again and again. These results remind me a great deal of the electorate that delivered Mondale the nomination in 1984 - noting, of course, the irony that Clinton won New Hampshire and Mondale did not.... more at link

Mondale’s numbers actually improved dramatically once he added (Ferraro) to the ticket.
