Holy Shit! I'm "far left"!
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 08:11 PM by 11 Bravo
Sure, I'm a married father of two, a decorated U.S. Army combat veteran, a former Boy Scout, a Little League coach, a Cub Scout leader, and I used to teach Sunday School. No matter, I'm an America-hating, dangerous, "far left secular progressive". Why?

I believe that a woman's reproductive choices should be between herself and her physician.
I believe in equal pay for equal work.
I believe that the richest nation in history should ensure that all of it's citizens have access to health care.
I believe that, while I am a Christian, nobody is at "war" with me.
I believe that people should be valued above corporate profits.
I believe that pre-emptive war is unconstitutional.
I believe that any two individuals who are in a loving relationship should enjoy the same rights that I do.

Apparently, these beliefs make me a bad person.

Oh yeah, I also believe that there is a special place in Hell for sanctimonious, moralizing hypocrites like Bill O'Reilly, William Bennett, Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura, and a host of other conservatives who talk their bullshit talk, but find the walk inconvenient.

17. She takes my name in vain!!
Yeah, I don't know how come believing in equal rights, free speech and power to the people suddenly is commie-pinko far left. I must just be off the scale if those are the criteria.

Some of the blame has to go to Bill Clinton, who every time he was threatened, moved to the right to survive. Suddenly, our core principles seemed more and more radical instead of sane, reasoned and morally correct.

3. Me, too...
I'm like you except for the Christian part. Athiest here, but I can understand someone calling me far left just for that alone regardless of the fact I'm a stay at home mom, a grandmother, and a veteran as well.

Go figure, Bravo.

We want everyone treated equally, we want the poor cared for, we hate war, and we want to live our lives as we see fit as long as we don't harm anyone in the process. For some reason this makes us far left.

I'll never understand it.

Take it from part of the fringe of the Liberal faction of the Democratic wing of the 2008 Democratic campaign, you aren't even close to left, let alone far.

9. You're just a little left of where the real middle is
The middle is where the majority are sitting.

The majority want us out of Iraq, the war over, declare victory and leave.

The majority want an end to offshoring and the loss of good US jobs that pay living wages.

The majority want the brakes put on CEO salaries and pay packages.

The majority want universal health care and know we needed it decades ago, that the GOP have been the major foot draggers and now it looks like the Dems are joining into the frenzy to protect the insurance companies at the expense of the people--and they don't like it at all.

The majority want a fairer tax system with the wealthy paying rates commensurate with the benefits they receive.

The majority want a restoration of the social safety net, now that more of them are looking at resetting ARMs with no help in sight while they're being squeezed to death between the grocery and the gas pump.

The majority want Social Security strengthened, but not robbed to benefit brokers on Wall Street.

The majority want dirty lobby money out of Washington DC, out of campaigns, and the revolving door between government jobs and lobbying companies nailed shut.

Best of all, the majority want a 180 degree turn from the way this country is heading.

10. So laugh with the sinners
rather than cry with the saints (sic) Bill O'Reilly, William Bennett, Rush Limbaugh, Dr. Laura, who are living proof that only the good die young while beastly craven hypocrites who ravenously suck the lifeblood out of decent society collect big fat checks well past their dotage.

25. According to the Political Compass: I am so liberal/libertarian

that me and the Dali Lama and Nelson Mandala are all snugged in there together. Woo-Hoo Awesome Company!

Economic Left -6.00
Social Libertarian -5.69

www.politicalcompass.org/

And yes, you evil, vile person...caring about the economic health of people less fortunate than yourself, while allowing them to make independent adult decisions without your patronizing, moralistic meddling makes you practically Satan incarnate.
