No shit. I went lurking over there, and they think that the insurgents using a makeshift chlorine bomb proves that their "dear leader", Dubya, has been vindicated.

Sometimes when they bitch about how screwed up our public school system is...I almost start to believe them. Then I realize that despite the best efforts of our dedicated teachers, you just can't fix stupid.

thank goodness there were no wmds over there.....

The use of WMDs in Iraq - by the Iranian backed terrorists - should be breaking news on all major networks.

It's not.

That speaks volumes about how complicit much of the MSM is with the libs/dems and their utter disdain for the current administration, no matter the costs.

I do not understand why there aren't people of influence and money that could start a REAL news network! I am starving for real news that matters to me.

Thank God for Free Republic - this is where I get most of my news.

1. Odd take on the facts. Isn't chlorine available in all 50 U.S. states?
Should we shut down Des Moines?

But just the same, maybe we should shut down Des Moines anyway, just to be on the safe side.

2. I overheard one freeper to another (on a plane) say...
"I think they moved those WMDs to Syria. How would our guys ever be able to
find them if they're in Syria?"

I wanted to scream, "Well, we must really suck if that really happened. I thought we had
the best intel and satellites on the planet."

But I didn't. I figured the TSA would call me a terrorist.

5. We were able to catch, track, find the flatbed with a Billion $ on it the night before the war
but then that was something really important-CASH- we just couldn't let Saddam get away with something that important now could we?

Remember the flatbed convoy? We sure tracked that like it was a freeway car chase but WMD big enough to fill Lake Mead...naw they just slipped out of the country.

You know, it ain't worth explaining it.

6. swimming pool WMD's
Edited on Thu Feb-22-07 10:43 AM by enki23
sure. and if they were drowning people in barbecue sauce, that would be a WMD too.

listen for a moment, you idiot fucking lurkers: anything can be a "WMD" if you stretch the definition that badly. we've seen in recent years that machetes can be "WMD's".

the term is only really useful for very specific things. those things are nuclear weapons, with the possible addition serious (ie. spread through human-human contact, not anthrax) biological weapons. that's it. there is no chemical, or conventional "biological" weapon that can seriously come close to the destructive and lethal power of a nuclear device.

on the other hand, we could easily starve millions to death using no weapons at all. our economy is, by your definition, a fucking WMD.

11. I think a DUer posted the below over there
I think it is a mistake to refer to these as WMDs:
1. How are these so called WMDs a threat to our national security? Were we concerned that terrorists were going to drive chlorine tankers from Iraq to the US?
2. If they are in some way a threat, how has the war in Iraq helped to enhance our security from the threat of these WMDs?
3. If we went into Iraq to prevent terrorists from getting their hands on WMDs, then how successful has this venture been when terrorists are currently using those weapons?

Of course there followed a brilliant Freaker response.

To: NC28203
1. How are these so called WMDs a threat to our national security?
Terrorists apparently get used to it, may refine the technique and handling and ulitmately use them against US targets.

2. If they are in some way a threat, how has the war in Iraq helped to enhance our security from the threat of these WMDs?

Saddam was the major producer/user of chemical agents/weapons througout the last decades. Crushing him eliminated a (very) potential source of chemical Weapons for terrorists. Also I have no doubt the terrorists would be focusing more on the USA, if they were not diverted and fought by us in Iraq and Afghanistan.

3. If we went into Iraq to prevent terrorists from getting their hands on WMDs, then how successful has this venture been when terrorists are currently using those weapons?

See Answer 1. Also chlorine isn't exactly a WMD. It's as you may know, a rather common substance. The terrorists are improvising, and using chemicals in the mentioned "dirty bomb" tactic. Saddam's chemical weapons were more sophisticated and dangerous. If his regime would be still around, the terrorists would be threatening us with stuff more dangerous than chlorine.

Finally it should be said, that ultimately the terrorists in Iraq and their tactics can't be destroyed, as long as we ignore Iran and Syria. The war needs to be extended.

12. The don't want real news
They want news that supports the lies they've been told. Then it's real to them. That's why they're becoming increasingly despondent. As support for BushCo drops off and the corporate media follows the trend to keep ratings up, freeps aren't being spoonfed their daily ration of propaganda anymore.

And the vital difference between them and us: we deal in facts whether the corporate media reports them or not, while freeps are nothing without someone in authority confirming their belief system. They aren't clever enough to wake up and realize on their own, as most of America already has, that they've been lied to over and over again by BushCo.

One offers the explanation for their persistent willing ignorance in one simple statement: "Thank God for Free Republic - this is where I get most of my news."

Dumpster divers.
