The surge in Iraq is working.
It seems that, is what the media is telling us from various bobble heads and war mongers. NOT!

U.S. forces launched their biggest air strikes in at least a year, dropping 40,000 pounds of bombs

Two B-1 bombers and four F-16 fighter jets struck more than 40 al Qaeda targets in three zones of Arab Jabou

the main Sunni insurgent group in Iraq, is adamant it will not make common cause with the Sunni militias tackling al-Qaeda with U.S. support, and will instead fight the Americans "to the end."

Gunmen have kidnapped up to 10 members of a local volunteer security force in north-east Baghdad

It's just more lies.

1. The surge IS working.
Four years ago, you'd be hard-pressed to find any "Al Qaeda" members in Iraq. Today, there are thousands of them.

That's what I call a surge!

2. Is the Iraqi Govt. any closer to being viable & reaching any
agreements with the various factions? No.

Isn't that what this "Surge" was spozed to accomplish?

4. Here's another way to explain the 'surge' working...
I recall some stories from a while back about British soldiers caught being dressed up as Iraqi's and doing nasty stuff for the insurgents to get the blame. sorry, no link. it was talked about here quite a bit a while ago.

so if there are 'agent provacateurs' like these, - and let's not forget those adorable Blackwater boys most likely are contributing to these incidents as well - the 'surge' just may be working merely by the simple fact that these dogs are now being called off to fit the story.

yes, this is twisted, but let's not forget who we are talking about here.

6. There are some indications it IS working...
Less US deaths, less Iraqi deaths from death squads and all that, less suicide and car bombs....

The question is can it be sustained without the need for excess troops. Past experience in Iraq shows that when US troops move in, insurgents and Al Qaeda move out, lay low and patiently wait them out until it's safe to come out of the woodwork. Then they come out and resume business as usual.

The only true test to see if the surge is working is to withdraw troops to pr-surge levels and see if the number of deaths stay the same or rise. My guess is that they're biding their time and will resume their paths of death and destruction as before.

7. The "surge" is a temp fix for the '08 Election.
Before this Iraq was a top story. Now it is hardly mentioned by the US Corp Media. Mission Accomplished... for now.

The Repug & Dem Leaders want to maintain the US Occupation.
They want to keep the Fiasco going to finalize that Oil Deal.. The Repugs & Dems are afraid that they will be blamed if they force the end of the US Occupation and Iraq goes down the tubes, the Oil goes to other countries, & Iran gains major control in the ME. That wouldn't be good for the '08 Election.
