Did anybody notice Bush referred to Al Queda as SUNNI extremists? Funny; Saudi Arabia, our supposed ally, is Sunni, and so are some others in the region.

And then he called Iran's leaders SHI'ITE extremists, forgetting that Iraq's President is Shi'ite, America is basically supporting the Shi'ites against the "Sunni insurgents" in Iraq and the "extremist" Shi'ite Al Sadr has some 23 seats or so on the Iraqi Parliament. So are we de facto supporting Iran? And who is the enemy really?

6. What's the problem? al qaeda is a Sunni extremist group.
That's correct. Iran is basically Shiite and they have their extremists also. Of course, Saudi Arabia is Sunni and they have problems with their extremists, don't they? If you want references for these points, they are widely available on the net. Iran's leaders are "SHI'ITE extremists" if you believe Kofi Annan and a whole bunch of other world leaders. Did you see the stories on Iran's president yesterday? He's an extremist blowhard case, plus he's a Holocaust denier.

7. There are Sunni extremists/Sunni moderates...Shi'ite extremists/Shi'ite moderates
Some extremist groups within the same sect hate each other.

And the Saudis have problems with the Wahabiists.

It's a fun place, the middle east.
