17. Please do! I'm working on putting an impeachment group up
on its feet here in SF. Which means a website and tee-shirts and some rabble rousing. Cynthia McKinney will be across the bay tomorrow for the Berkeley group. Maybe I can cut a few out from the herd there.

Looks like we're both having a busy month.

Go forth and conquer! :toast:

22. Please tell Mr. Joseph that I live in a town filled with great photographers.
And his work is sensational. The more I look at the composition, the more I appreciate the artistry.

Of course, he had a great subject to work with, too, don'tcha know? ;)

24. I don't know about the subject,
But Leonard is an artist. He does wonderful work. He asks for no credit. Every time I try to get him some attention he responds, "this is not about me, this is about you. Say nothing about me." I don't take direction very well. I will suffer his wrath, but I am going to tell him how much you have liked his photography.

35. You are much too modest. You take a great picture.
I did look up Leonard Joseph on the Internet. I wanted to see his other photographs. I found nothing :)

Perhaps someday he'll change his mind and seek a bit of applause for his work. It's so difficult to take good portraits that reveal the character of the subject without it being "in your face." He shows you as you are, and obviously has a talent for putting people at ease. (Gawd, how I hate having my picture taken.)

You don't take direction very well? You have a mind of your own? You must be a Democrat! :P

48. You beat me to it -
It struck me as a Gap ad as well. It's very nice, very well done. But that look on our candidate's face - it is standard issue these days for advertising products of all sorts, but when it's about being a "Councilman at Large," it just comes across to me as a little too orgasmic. Maybe that's just me. Not that orgasmic is necessarily bad.

32. I looked into this
I found out about this girl while at Mardi Gras in Covington and started asking questions. I wish I lived in Covington so I could vote for her. Unfortunately, I live in what's left of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Since I can't vote for her, I'm sending her a check to:

ANNIE SPELL FOR CITY COUNCIL
535 EAST BOSTON STREET
COVINGTON, LA 70433.

A journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.

Thank you. I am touched by generosity. I know that Mississippi was hit hard by Katrina. My husband's Grandmother, Aunt and Cousin lost their house in Waveland. I know that you are all still suffering. It means a lot to me that you would offer to support me. Did the coast celebrate this year? Did you like Mardi Gras in Covington?

54. I much prefer this picture as an ad over the picture posted in the OP. This photo where you are
making eye contact with your audience promotes you better. A Gap ad shows attractive people having a good time in Gap clothes and they do not make eye contact with the camera because that draws attention from the model to scene portrayed, which is the image that is being used to sell the clothes. In a political ad, however, you really need the candidate to connect with the audience (voters). This photo accomplishes that goal very well.

Good luck.

It's a GREAT photo, but a bad campaign poster.

It doesn't say "Vote Annie", it says "Sweater Sale at the Gap".

Seriously, I thought that's what it was at first- and that's not good.

36. No, it is good. Think about it.
We don't know the demographics of Covington. Annie does, and the photographer does. This ad is aimed at Covington residents.

When you see the ad, do you think you'll remember it? Does it create a positive experience, promoting the candidate without slamming anyone else? Yes.

I like the non-noisy effect of this ad. It's very warm and appealing.

55. To be fair, Straight Shooter makes a good point just above:
That I don't know the audience you are trying
to address with this ad.

You certainly know the people in your area better
than I do, so perhaps my concerns aren't applicable
to your situation. Perhaps what I see as a negative
will actually appeal to them & make your poster stand out
from the pack.

It really -IS- a good photo, y'know.

Although, to be honest, if I saw this ad driving down the street or maybe even walking by it wouldn't occur to me that this was a campaign ad or that you were a candidate for office. I'd think it was an ad for a clothing store/designer named Annie Spell. I think the position you're running for needs to be highlighted a lot more. Or, as one poster suggested, throw "vote for..." in there somewhere. Not trying to be mean, just trying to help you win!

62. Very nice poster and the 1 from your website too.
Seems you have gotten a lot of good feedback about both. Nice pictures of you, both of them. You are such a strong person, an interesting combination of dainty/petite and strength, good to get a couple pictures out there that can show both or either side of you. Makes you very human, and shows you can get done what needs to get done. You are no pushover, and I know you scare some people with your strength (observation shortly post Katrina time, but then the ones you scared were in need of getting their egos put down), but then again you are just a very nice sweet caring mom person too.

Very nice and thanks for posting these.
