I REALLY need a dancing banana icon. :bounce:

For those debating whether or not to use the ignore feature, it is VERY liberating!!!

2. I know the feeling.
I only had one person on ignore before the primary season. Now I probably have 8.
It sure has been better since I did that. :)

3. I had 3
but had to take one off so I could see their OP's. They seem to start newsworthy or interesting threads, but their reply posts are nothing but demeaning, condescending, and plain RUDE. But one day I really wanted to read a thread they started so I took them off. Sure it won't be long till they are back on :/

I've cleared the list once, but it's back up to about 10.

It almost feels TOO good, doesn't it?

6. Congratulations! It is a good feeling.
I only have 4 or 5 on my ignore list, and I only add people when they personally attack me, or become abusive or condescending. At that point, I decide that I don't care what they say, regardless. So, they're history.

One of them has been following me around the past few weeks responding to my posts, and I can't see them! They're wasting their time. But to me, they're pretty much worthless anyway, so type away, whoever you are on my ignore list! Your bloody stumps pounding away at the keyboard are getting you nothing!

8. I have several folks on ignore - It's a beautiful thing
I'll probably take them off ignore after the primaries. But since virtually all their posts are in support of one particular Dem candidate (or trashing the other candidates), I suspect they will disappear from DU after the nominee is chosen.

10. ANOTHER bit of good news this morning (I'll piggyback on my own post):
My SO is a lifelong Republican...raised that way and couldn't entertain that there was anything redeeming about Democrats.

Hypocrisy is a big thing with us; it's something that pushes our buttons big time.

He came out with a line this morning that shocked me: "I've learned in the last year that the two biggest groups of hypocrites are Republican politicians and evangelical/fundie preachers. Thanks, honey, you've enlightened me."

12. I've got two on there now.
Some posters here seem to have really terrible attitude problems, including a few whose opinions I actually agree with. With so many obnoxious people out there that we can't do anything about (CoughBushAdministrationCough), it is really nice to be able to "shut off" a source of obscene negativity or hatefulness, and have them stay shut off.

Freedom!

33. The two I ignore were personally insulting to me or others.
I don't allow people like that in my life, even on discussion boards. Idiots and nutjobs are fine (and weirdos!), personal insults and obscene ranting not so much. These two were over the top.

25. WHY? I've been here since January 2001 and have never used the ignore feature.
First, I'm afraid I might miss something REALLY GOOD and second....if there's a post I don't like or a poster I don't like, I just move on or respond with a post. What fun is it if you ignore people with a different opinion?

26. Well, as we're all seeing very clearly, we're all very different personality types...
I understand your point, and I do like to have genuine discussions and to see others' opinions (I AM open to learning new things, after all ;) ).

When I see the same message coming from the same person with the same intention every single time - and when the message is, in my opinion and only my opinion, very disrespectful on all levels and is intended to be - I have no need to keep seeing it.

I have no need to be exposed to the same, verbatim arrogance repeatedly when I can learn nothing from it and when it predictably produces such emotional responses within a thread.

And I can't always predict which threads will be affected. I'll be reading through innocently enough...agreeing, disagreeing, learning....but then when there is the BOOM out of nowhere to break up flow of the OP's discussion and it goes off on a tangent that isn't helpful to anyone (that may be subjective, but I believe it to be pretty accurate)...nah, I'll use the ignore button then. That's just because of MY personality type. I don't enjoy confrontations that are destined to go nowhere. Give me a good HEATED discussion any time, but meaningless attacks aren't what I am here for. So, I shall tailor my experience based upon what I AM here for. To learn. Sometimes I get a good laugh or a heart tug as well.

Others enjoy such interactions and that's cool. I don't.

Thanks for asking. :hi:

unless it is me you put on ignore.

'ignore' is not just a handy tool (though I fear it is often self limiting, I DO need to learn more ways to deal with knuckleheads) but it can be a tool to guard one's health. Used judiciously, it can help lower one's blood pressure ;)

37. You have to do a "copy image" thing, save it on your computer, then upload
it to a photo hosting site (like photobucket). You need to open an account at photo host site to do that, but it is free and painless ;) They have instructions there on how to upload your images to an album you can then post the images from.

If I can do it, you can. I'm: blond, a luddite, suffering the intermittent incoherence and memory laspes some menopausal women get blessed with.

PS: if you have any problems pulling it off, PM me and I will walk you through it.
