"Rockefeller Not Endorsing Any Presidential Aspirant Yet"
Mannix Porterfield
Register-Herald Reporter

From my http://www.register-herald.com/archivesearch/local_story_320214222.html">home county paper (where I had my first paid job as a teen columnist).

*********************************************************

If he had his way, Sen. Jay Rockefeller would find a means of eliminating the political conventions as one reform in an election process for which he holds much disdain.

Since he is a convention delegate, Rockefeller is duty-bound to attend the gathering of Democrats next summer to nominate a candidate for president.

At this stage, he isn’t affixing his star to any aspirant’s wagon, be it Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama or John Edwards.

<snip>

“I believe in public life,” he said. “You should absolutely feel the freedom to change your position or view at any given time. If you don’t, you’re not morally honest. It’s very tough when you’re running for president.”

<snip>

*********************************************************

I wonder what he makes of Senator Clinton's continued refusal to admit her Iraq War vote was wrong?

2. His Opinion Carries Great Weight in WV...
... where he long ago disproved the carpetbagger suspicions.

3. If Rockefeller Calls "Carpetbagger"...
... Mountaineers will listen. He has a certain amount of credibility on that issue.
