After watching the Pentagon press conference..I am disgusted.
The whole spin was to blame the troops, their families for not "Letting us know".."we would have fixed things had we known"
I am angry and need to stop for a minute.

or attempted to and were rebuffed.

6. But that's standard ops for this admin; they are never at fault, never
apologize, and always blame someone else. I'm not surprised, though it is upsetting. If we had a valid media, they might consider how nonsensical this stance is.
No one knew? Gimme a break... Were there no support staff in these buildings to alert on conditions?

EVERYTHING about the military is based on inspections and reports.

I missed the conference. Was Gates involved?

Seems to me that it was done on purpose, but why? I think there's much more to the story that hasn't been discovered yet. Could it be a repository for the meth addicted vets we've been hearing about?

10. There should be NO SPIN where this issue is concerned
Unfortunately, ChimpCo seems to always think that the solution to every problem lies in finding the right political spin. If they could get away with it, they wouldn't do anything or provide any services, as they hate government. When they're cornered like rats, however, the only way out they know is to focus their efforts on finding just the right excuse rather than an actual solution.

You may have misread, but you have added an important point in the process. A lie is their solution to just about everything.

23. Good Accounting For *Co's Lack Of Support For Our Troops.....
I can't understand why we don't put *Co and the Repugs more on the spot about this when we're in debate in the House or Senate. We're soon going to be debating funding for this so-called war. They say the Dems don't support the troops. Why don't the Dems lay out a better case for how *Co and the Repugs have not supported and don't support the troops. Equipment. Armour. Hospitalization. Housing. etc. etc. etc.

GI Denied Health Care After Speaking Out
By Mark Benjamin
United Press International

Tuesday 02 March 2004

Congress, veterans groups, and the press should immediately launch a full investigation into this Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran's allegation he suffered retaliation from the military for speaking with reporters about substandard military healthcare. A series of three UPI articles about this major scandal are posted here. They describe the "squalor" more than 1,000 wounded, ill, or injured service members were forced to endure while on "medical hold." -- Veterans for Common Sense

16. Cynicism doesn't even describe it.
I don't know if democratic leadership will be any better or if we have any better chance of influencing them, but this lieing, covering up, and "Oh, I take full responsibility" simply has to stop.

There has to be some damn way that we can truly create a government of, by, and for the people. The Very worst of society seem to be the ones who want power the worst and are willing to do anything to get it.

Perhaps the ones we need most in management and control should have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into the job. Barring that, I am not sure we can ever get the best people in charge, but one thing for fu**ing sure, we don't want or need ever is any form of "conservative republican" in charge of anything having to do with people.

25. And we sure did not hear about the officer golf clubs that were
built in the 9o's when the GOP took over Congress. As a person that has used Bethesda and seen the officer only club that ran around that hospital and knew people who had to man it that always interested me. We know who gets the good deal on this stuff.

26. Bushetals are batting 1000! 9/11, Iraq, Katrina, and now this
It wasn't too long ago that Congress was pissed off because the director of the VA came before them to say he would be going belly up within a month or two because they were using and "old formula" for funding needs. Apparently, it never occurred to them that the demand on Veteran benefits would rise significantly...IN A TIME OF WAR!!! as the Bushies are all wont to say.

because some of their congressmen were getting them the help they needed faster than going through VA/military channels.

Dana Priest said this on MSNBC.

It's a sorry, sorry affair.

Bush has completed wrecked every facet of American life and American government.

28. Just part of the plan
This is part of Grover's "drown it in a bathtub" scheme. They WANT Americans to lose faith in the government, and to stop expecting the government to be there for them. That is one of the driving philosophies behind everything BushCo does...get everyone so fed up with government that they'll pay to privatize everything. And who tends to get those privatization contracts? GOP/BushCo supporters, of course.

"Running America Like a Business," remember?

Profit is always the underlying motive for these evil bastards.
