Go ahead. Tell me why every post I post sinks to the pit.

2. It happens to us all a lot of the time.

We post and no one answers. They sink and go away. Seems like you get a lot of people replying a lot of the time. Sometimes no one just replies. It happens. It has nothing to do with not caring, just not posting. Believe you me, it happens a lot to a lot of us.

As far as I'm concerned everybody here has something worthwhile to add to the dialogue or they'd be at freak republic or some other POS site. I can't respond to all of them because I'm such a shitty typist. But I read most of them and appreciate the thought that went into them. That goes for you and the 101,000 others who post here (well, most of them anyway)

5. I'm just trying to get across a subtle point

some things never change, some things do, and most don't give a damn as long as they can complain about it.

Maybe not so subtle, but there it is.

I really don't care if anything I post sinks to the pit. I do care that many posts that have many important things to say sink to the pit because there are so many posts about what someone said on tv today - as if that is really important.

Some days are not so good.

Some days, one doesn't want to read crap, but doesn't want to go anywhere else because this used to be a place to obtain great ideas, read the thoughts of others that were intriguing, and to think about things.

Now, it seems as though the only news that is fit to "print" is overly emotional soap opera stories that have been evolved from a tv personality and expanded to fit this screen.

I hear you on the other thing as well too. Some people can post about this mornings breakfast, and how they flushed the toilet this morning, and get 50 recs, while others come up with hard hitting cerebral insights and get placed straight on the top of everyones "pay no mind to" list.

17. Skinner almost never posts in GD and very little overall

He is one of the most laid-back, least opinionated and overall most pleasant site-owner/mod I have ever seen, at least in my experience as a lurker/poster :).

He is so unlike Kos, who has become insufferable (just imo) over the years. Don't get me wrong, dkos is a great site and I still visit it, but Kos is just becoming too over-bearing over time.

Skinner seems to entirely lack the pompousness/ego that sadly many (justly honored usually) netizens acquire over time. And he isn't a site-nazi. That leads to some "fluff" in GD etc. and maybe a few more trolls (but I think the posters are vigilant about that) overall, but still its preferable to Kos' rigidity on some issues (specially election fraud, 9/11 etc.) I would take some Anna Nicole smith crap with the freedom to discuss issues like voter fraud, over treating issues like that as taboo or conspiracy theory.

feast or famine. That's how your posts go. You hit the greatest page early one for a poster. Some of us never have and that's okay. I'm not envious of hitting the greatest page by any means. I'm mostly just a serious lurker.

But when I think of your history, I simply see feast or famine. Sometimes you get a great many responses and sometimes you get none or few.

You post well. Don't take this place too personally. You are an important member of this group of diverse and sometimes eccentric group of liberals.

Lots of people's posts do, and then sometimes, you post something and people just flock to it.

One or all of the following:

1. This site has many members and many threads posted in busier forums like GD. A thread has to see a lot of traffic to stay on the front page for very long.

2. If you are not posting about a media talking head, a political candidate, a topic that allows everyone to join hands and sing kumbaya, or a topic guaranteed to stir up aggressive tendencies and leave some posters foaming at the mouth, you may not get many responses. People may read, but pass on without responding, or read the title and not click at all.

3. Most of the best threads, with the most serious content for thinking and discussing issues, sink like rocks in favor of more shallow content. See #2.
