Al Gore To Launch Campaign Next Month...

Although, it isn't the campaign those who say they support him seem to be interested in from what I have been reading on sites of late. However, this campaign being started by The Alliance for Climate Protection is a very important campaign, moreso than a political one in that it seeks to raise awareness among the American people that is compulsory in order for political change regarding this crisis to take place across the board.

Environmental group to kick off campaign about global warming

By JENNIFER FUSCO

Observer-Dispatch

The Alliance for Climate Protection soon will kick off a $100 million annual campaign to educate the public on global climate change, said former Rep. Sherwood Boehlert, who is a board member.

Board chairman Al Gore established the non-profit environmental group using proceeds from his 2006 documentary about global warming, “An Inconvenient Truth,” according to a recent article in “Plenty” magazine.

Gore then asked Boehlert to be a board member following his retirement from Congress, Boehlert said.

“I was one of the voices that kept urging my colleagues to be familiar with the issue and its implications, and to do something about it,” Boehlert said.

The group's mission is “to persuade the American people - and people elsewhere in the world - of the importance and urgency of adopting and implementing effective and comprehensive solutions for the climate crisis,” according to its Web site.

The campaign, which Gore will kick off in February, is a three-year initiative that will use media avenues such as print, television and online, according to the “Plenty” article.

Other board members include Theodore Roosevelt IV, managing director of Lehman Brothers, and Brent Scowcroft, former national security advisor to presidents Gerald Ford and George Bush senior, according to the article.

The group spent the past year soliciting money and fundraising, Boehlert said.

“We just want the public to be aware of how severe the issue is,” Boehlert said.

After retiring from Congress, Boehlert, who was chairman of the House Science Committee, said he became involved with several environmental-related boards.

This is the CURRENT/Alliance for Climate Protection Eco Spot winner. I believe this will be the ad used besides others. This ad is fantastic and was done by someone who sent it into Current. As Mr. Gore said in his interview for Tennessean of the year, even Madison Ave. couldn't think of this. ;-).

4. Not to be rude...
But can discussion be kept to the Alliance's campaign that Mr. Gore is a part of now?

5. Excellent timing. I've been waiting for the Alliance to get its campaign off the ground -
It will be perfect if what it does is to force all candidates to make a bold shift in their plans to combat the climate crisis.

7. I think that is the general idea...
And I hope the Republicans are going to really feel the heat... pardon the pun.

6. This will be interesting and welcomed. I wonder in a few years
after this kick off what changes for the better will be visible to us in our surroundings?

8. I wonder about that too...
I would say we have something to hope for. I trust Mr. Gore's judgement, and I think this will be an effective campaign.

...that's all I gotta say.

EXCELLENT!

I just watched Radiohead on CURRENT! They played their entire new album.

Going to watch the ad now...

EDIT: That ad is magnificent! Very good thinking - and a VERY GOOD way to get others to think about what we're doing to this planet and our atmosphere. :applause:
