Having just won the Midlands Tournament last weekend for the first time in many years and being rated #1 at the moment. Leave it to the Rethuglicans there to not distinguish pro rasslin' and college wrestling, which are quite different animals.

Iowa's football and basketball programs are in pretty down years at this time. Bowl games probably weren't as much distractions for college students this year, as this is the first year that Iowa wasn't in a bowl game. Unfortunately that might translate into more Republicans being on campus (though at least this isn't the GE). It will be interesting to see if that translates into more progressive student votes in the caucuses or not for the Dems. Opening Big 10 basketball game is home against Indiana tonight, so that will keep more students here too, though probably not as much as in past years when they had better teams.

My husband and I went to see the Governor of Maine speak on the campus of Bowdoin College. It was a pro Kerry speech. Seconds before the Governor arrived, a minivan drove up and out poured about 10 kids chanting at the top of their lungs "Bush-Cheney...Bush-Cheney" They wore Khaki pants/skirts with pale blue shirts and all had that mannequin looking "MITT" face.
