Following a fresh night of violence in Kenya, sixty-six more civilians have been found dead bringing the death toll to 251 people.
A mortuary attendant has confirmed that forty-eight bodies, most of them with fresh bullet wounds, were brought to the morgue in the western Kenya city of Kisumu.
"They brought in 48 bodies, including three children, 44 had fresh bullet wounds, four were hacked with machetes," the attendant told AFP Tuesday.
The past two days have been the scene of police raids and tribal clashes in Kisumu, the country's third city, which until Monday had left at least 53 people killed.
The attendant also confirmed that since yesterday 101 bodies have been lying in the mortuary.
According to witnesses, the police conducted a killing spree overnight which left 18 people killed in the nearby town of Eldoret, northwest of Nairobi.
