bush's last year, a whimper or a bang?
I dread bush's last year, and I fervently hope that he just fades away. I find optimism difficult to conjure after the 7 worst years we've ever witnessed.

I just can't kick the pessimistic notion that all holy hell is gonna break loose in these waning days of rule by the neo con monsters. This is their last year to finish up what they started and give us all just one more fucking over on their way out the door to glorious retirement and the history books.

The years between 2000 and 2007 have been years of not enough sleep at night, years of worry and dread, lost years, ruined years, years filled with thousands upon thousands of murders, rapes, tortures, fires, explosions, suicides, unrest, upheaval, chaos, uncertainty, negativity, paranoia, years of tyranny, treason, lawlessness and wickedness, how bad could just one more year be?

1. Oh, I think it could get a lot worse... I hope not.
I'm feeling very cynical and pessimistic, though I suppose I should be thinking positive thoughts about the "New Year." How the hell is the Gregorian calendar going to change anything? Bushler is still in power and soldiers and civilians are still dying. The economy is crashing around us. They are destroying perfectly good apartment buildings here in New Orleans to replace them with houses the poor will NEVER be allowed to occupy. I just got back from the French Quarter a couple of hours ago, and I had to pass by a thousand or more homeless people sleeping under the Interstate... and that was just the few blocks I saw. It's fucking cold and windy outside and the lucky ones are living in TENTS!

No, Bushler will not just fade away. He has to be hauled away to an international criminal court or else we will never recover from the last 7 years. How the hell this will happen and who will make it happen, I do not know, but it MUST BE DONE!! This is why I feel pessimistic about the future of this nation because too many politicians are too chickenshit to do what is right.

2. I was gonna say we deserve better, but maybe not.
Maybe we deserve exactly what we get, I'm sad to suggest.

My greatest disappointment is with the American people for accepting this shit so easily.

3. a fun filled year of a
kicking-screaming-whining-hissy fit, briefly interrupted by denials of knowing anything about a current scandal and refusal to discuss it during an on-going investigation - this will be sprinkled "liberally" by Dems standing up and apologizing

4. I think they're totally whipped. They'll probably die before their term is through.

5. That's how I feel, too. Seven years of disrupted sleep.
Bush doesn't worry me as much as Cheney does. This really is his last chance to set the world on fire.

7. Bush is tired,
angry, and confused. His sense of frustration at not getting the results he wants -- for he knows that his Middle East policy is a dismal failure -- suggests that he will pose a risk for the earth's people, by attempting a "last minute" miracle turn-around.

Cheney is an evil human being, who will attempt to institute his madness in such a way that it damages our Constitutional democracy beyond repair.

They are both snakes without the least bit of Good in them. Both are dangerous. And despite my hopes for elections victories in the executive and legislative branches 11 months from now, I am fully aware that the democratic party lacks the leadership, the will, and the bravery needed to confront the president and vice president during those 11 months.

11. The whole administration is a dissertation on sociopathy
waiting to happen. And that they have succeeded in being so destructive for so long, unimpeded, is profoundly disturbing.

I hope some greater good watches out for this planet over the next year because no one else seems to want the job.

8. Little george will be a passive pansy trying to bolster the next republican candidate
The administration will do anything to advance the political goals of the next republican candidate for president and they will do anything to thwart the Democrat candidate. Look for total gridlock in congress coupled with slander and name calling from the republicans that will have mothers covering the ears of their small children.

9. When you said whimper or bang I thought you meant us.
One more year of pain, that's for certain. Shrub is going to strut and crow as if he was King of the World. Mr. Democracy. Mr. Tough Guy. Mr. Tax Breaks. Unfortunately, he's also Mr. Sociopathic Moron Idiot. The real question is how - or if - we'll get through it. I checked our end-of-year income yesterday and, since my husband's job is real estate related, it's down 22% from the previous year. It's going to be a struggle.

10. On the Saturday Night Live special yesterday
they were talking about their skits of presidents, and how the republicans never complained about it, some even liked it. But the democrats did not like being made fun of. No wonder the republicans do better at dirty politics.
