6. I've sort of been saying this all weekend but
Musharif is much more collected, more organized than the media comedy that we've just witnessed. If he was this bad a bumbler, he'd be so very gone by now.

This whole incident reeks of Bush/Cheney/Rice.

That woman never had a chance. She was dead before she landed.

8. In hindsight, that is obvious.
They were not going to stop until they got her, and she was not going to be assigned a reasonable security detail.

14. The perception was probably that she was going to work with the US in
dismantling the whole nexus of terrorism that is ongoing in that region, in exchange for some kind of payoff. That cooperation would have been a threat to those who benefited from a continuing, ongoing war on terrorism.

She herself was charismatic, but she didn't actually have any concrete plans for doing anything. At least, none that I was able to discern from the stories that I read. She was big on platitudes, short on details. ("It will be hard work, but we must do it! For Pakistan! For Democracy!" :eyes: )

And they wanted to do it cheap and easy. No money for cronies in Pakistan, is there.

10. I've been thinking about what she did know.
I lived with danger for many years. You know and don't know at the same time. You have to put it aside in a way to keep going. And the ability of our brains to set aside mortal danger can be, well, lethal.

I don't know if she accepted her own death. But I do know that our government was willing for her death to happen or they'd have protected her. They had many means to do that and, they didn't.

BushCo is every bit as guilty as the shooter.

13. Same here. Sometimes bravery is
more akin to denial than thoughtful courage. We're human, after all.

I hope they don't rope her son in to continue the feud. But, my hopes are dampened, knowing BushCo is still in the White House for another long year.

22. Well by naming the son and husband contradicts any notion
of democracy. The party is really part of a fiefdom and that's bullshit.

God help us, we've another whole YEAR of these people. I'm afraid for all of us. They really are suicidal and they don't care if they take us ALL with them.

25. I wonder how those pipelines...
are working out? Funny...I hardly hear about those darn things...
Central Asia Oil Pipeline

This pipeline will carry $3-5 trillion in
oil and natural gas from the Caspian Sea basin via
Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan,
where ships docked in Arabian Sea ports
will then carry that fuel to energy hungry Asia.

This will yield enormous profits for investors,
and the atmosphere will continue to heat
from the increasing use of those fossil fuels.

Two bullets striking the skull will generally fracture it.

20. Been thinking the same thing.
She did die as her skull fractured. They are using weasel words to dance around what should be said - she had her head destroyed by bullets and not from an impact with the sunroof. The concussion from the blast next to her car could also have thrown her head into the sunroof - in which case it would crack the skull and kill her too.

Bottom line, she was murdered. They need to work on that report, too late IMO.

19. Hillary Utters The Two Inutterable Words....
Edited on Mon Dec-31-07 03:54 PM by eroded47095
"BY GLENN THRUSH

CLINTON, Iowa

Hillary Rodham Clinton waded into Pakistan's volatile internal political situation yesterday, raising the possibility the country's military might have assassinated Benazir Bhutto because the killing took place in the garrison city of Rawalpindi.

Clinton's remarks came as Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's government seemed to reject a call for an independent international investigation of the murder that Clinton and John Edwards proposed on Friday.

<snip>

And for the second time in as many days, she cast doubt on Musharraf's contention that the suicide bombing that led to the death of the country's most popular opposition leader was masterminded by al-Qaida.

"There are those saying that al-Qaida did it. Others are saying it looked like it was an inside job - remember Rawalpindi is a garrison city," she said."

Whooops.

Those two words are getting bandied about more and more these days.

The two words in the back of most people's minds, and yearning to breathe free in brilliant American sunshine....
