2. They don't understand the concept of meeting someone halfway
so it's a moot point, IMO.

5. Every Republican I know would consider "meeting them halfway" as a sign of weakness on our part
It is a moot point.

27. Traitors and criminals
have to answer for their crimes of ruining our wealthy democracy. They have attacked their own countrymen for political power as well as foreign innocents.

Let all the jails be emptied if it is the case of forgiving them for their crimes and treason. No jail bird ever did such horrible murder and ruined so many lives..even the environment for centuries to come.

Women are committing suicide in Iraq and they ask for "unity"?

Failing that... maybe 20 million one way tickets to the new FreeRepublic of Mars, where they can set up their own theocratic police state utopia.

so give em the highway

they had years with a rubber stamp congress to fix things, but they wanted the money instead.
I've also seen Bush's way of compromise-do what he wants, when he wants it

I've had enough of that

53. Their way or the highway
is not so different than the religious wars (kings and Cardinals, etc.) which raved Europe for years. Only they are the true religion or race of people who should rule, etc. Now we have government and religious groups doing it.

Can anyone get me a knight in shining armor? Or maybe it's just beam me up Scottie.

35. Honestly, I believe the new "neocon" party should be acknowledged as a,...
,...party independent of the Republican one.

Moreover, the DLCorporacrats should also be acknowledged as a party independent of the Democrat one.

AAAAND, the Theocrats should be acknowledged as a party.

That's just my opinion.

41. DLCorporacrats and "moderate rethugs" are one and the same
They have a lot more in common with each other than they do with their own base.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the Corporate Democrats and the Neocon Rethugs leave their respective parties and form their own third party. Sure, we'd lose some of our members, but we'd be a lot closer to our core beliefs.

and the ones they have been repeating for the last 30 + years are baseless unreasoned and without any historical precident to back them up. We will admit that we should have been more forceful in our convictions because we knew we were right the whole time.

34. Hell No!

"bygones" aren't exactly how I would describe the years of RepubliCON dirty tricks and criminal behavior.

See HuffPo's Steve Clemons, who says what we need is more rebels! YAY, MORE REBELS !!!

All of a sudden these NeoCons want "bipartisanship" since their party is in the crapper. They truly do not know what the word means, at least not when it comes to politics.

For one thing, we should never abandon the principles we hold dear. We've made that mistake before, trying to compromise with the repukes - only to have them stomp on us in return.

I really don't see ANY issues on which we could compromise.

42. They are absolutely welcome to join us as we heal and
better this country. In that way, we can extend a hand, for sure.

But if you mean should we compromise our principles in order to buy some "bi-partisan" imprimatur from a handful of Republicans, then the answer is absolutely no.

In fact, quite the opposite. I think the country is yearning for some leaders who are willing to show the courage of their convictions, regardless of the personal/political consequences. Let's be firm in our beliefs and open-hearted in our welcome to the entire country to join us in furthering those beliefs!

47. I think we should follow Newt Gingrich's sage wisdom...
Following the takeover of Congress in 1994, he went on national TeeVee and said We will cooperate but we won't compromise

I thought it odd that someone who professes to know so much about American history should know that "compromise" is the foundation for American democracy.

But no, he and his fellow GOPers gave the country the middle finger, so I say not "no," but "HELL NO!"

****'em!!!

Where's that "finger" simile when you really need it?
