I have to say it is an interesting book, but really, Ford comes off to me (and I'm sure it's not the author's intention) as somebody who knew right from wrong and confessed it to this journalist in many meetings over the years but didn't speak out in his lifetime! And somehow we're supposed to feel admiration for "Good 'ol Jerry"????

2. They never do speak out when it matters.. Look at Colin Powell
and take your pick of any number of "journalists" who accept a paycheck for researching articles, print the generic stuff, and then charge us all to read the important stuff that could have prevented deaths..:grr:

3. There is ONE plus side to Gerald Ford's cowardice.
Because he kept his mouth shut, for two days after he died, the right-wing echo chamber was absolutely flooded with gushing praise for Gerald Ford.

And then, two days later, his notes to be read upon his death were released.

And the same right-wing screaming heads that had been praising Ford were suddenly trying to bury him.
