2. My grandma's boyfriend apparently believes Bush is doing a good job....
but there was not much of an argument involved since most of the rest of the room argued in opposition.

3. Zero politics.
Lotsa drinking and gambling in honor of Jesus' birthday.

Not bad, considering five years ago they were 700-Clubbers.

4. Nope. Nothing to disagree about bushitler being a nutfucker and dick being a devil incarnate.
No disagreement about the rights we have lost, no disagreement about the damage our country has suffered. Nope no arguments 'bout none of dat.

5. In the spirit of.....
Peace on Earth and Goodwill to Men (and Women)....

I let slide a couple of comments by my sis-in-law about bi-lingual education and undocumented workers (she calls them illegals).

It wasn't worth a family feud to engage in this sort of debate today.

6. I stayed blissfully alone today!
I used to complain about not being invited to spend holidays with my brother's family (my only in-state relatives). But the more I hear others bitch about their family gatherings, the more fortunate I feel to be able to spend a quite day alone!

7. Tranquil for the most part.
I found myself leaving the room a couple of times when politics came up and I knew I could become disagreeable. Sometimes it's just not worth it.

9. I made a fabulous Christmas dinner
Edited on Tue Dec-25-07 11:25 PM by Blue_In_AK
for my husband; his mother; my oldest daughter, her husband, her husband's mother, brother and sister; my middle daughter and her new Australian husband (who is Muslim and enjoying the heck out of all this celebration); and my youngest daughter and her boyfriend. ALL were in agreement that Bush is an idiot and that 9-11 was an inside job. My new son-in-law is fascinated by the fact that we here in America hate Bush as much as everybody else in the world does.

I love my family. They really rock.

10. not a one; because I don't spend Christmas with my family
except for my son. We have friends that are as close as family and it's a wonderful, riotous time, ending at the stuga where we build a fire and drink Glugg, after a fabulous meal, present opening and charades. For dessert we had a fantastic buche de noel that the kids decorated with marzipan. It looked like something out of a Tim Burton movie- they festooned it with worms and mice and toadstools and grubs. I'm more than a little looped after manhattans, wine and Glugg. Tomorrow we do it all over again with boxing day- except for the presents. And we didn't talk politics once, even though all 15 of us are liberals. I love Christmas.

11. We Found Unity in Burning the Quid Pro Quo Queen in Effigy around the Pagan Bonfire...
... and all was well.

All kidding aside, she was a definite uniter: even those starting out in favor of her have abandoned their support of her.
