Since my DU journal is a sluggish, page-after-page process to wade through now, here are links to past editions of the DUzy Awards for those who want to stroll down memory lane, count their awards or simply revel in a year's worth of laughs snipped from different forums on DU.

You can trace a year's worth of political and news events through these threads, and find more incisive commentary than you'll ever get from the mainstream media. Sifting back through them, I was reminded of weird news items I'd forgotten about completely, strange twists in ongoing political sagas and struggles, and lots of seamy, squalid Republican scandals and outrages that were all too soon overtaken by new and worse ones. Here, the outrageous, absurd, uplifting, insane and obscene happenings of 2007 jostle like skeletons dancing a manic frug in the national closet. DUers mocking stupid politicians, stupid pundits, a stupid system and the almost impossibly stupid Republican Party. Sometimes, DUers mocking each other. With wit, erudition, verbal panache and sometimes with the plain yet formidable rudeness of the schoolyard. Ah, bliss.

Thanks to the DUzy winners, to the good people who kick and rec and say such nice things every week, and most especially to those community-minded DUers who help make the selection process comprehensive and keep me just sane enough to put these things together every week.

I was just thinking that today I would take some time to search out old DU-zy threads since I've finished the last six or so and could use some more laughs. These threads are a goldmine to the funniest and most unusual threads on DU.

There is stuff here that you just will not find discussed anywhere else. And even if you could find it elsewhere, no one could converse about it with any degree of knowledge, let alone wit.

Anyway, thank you for doing this and saving me all that work!

34. So I came in to my office Sunday to read the DUzys

in peace and quiet, and I got the giggles so bad the tears were rolling down my cheeks. I snorted, I hoo-ha'ed, I whinnied like a little girl. But it was cool, because I was alone and able to let my freak flag fly.

Read the whole thread, got up to leave, discovered a co-worker in the anteroom. Lesson: always check the nooks and crannies before settling in to enjoy the DUzys, or one could embarrass oneself.
