This is my 6th Christmas Eve on DU. Wow!

It literally feels like a lifetime has gone by, both politically and personally. When I first came here my rage at the 2000 election theft and all the subsequent * outrages was palpable. I have mellowed,
probably only because one cannot live in that emotional state for long without facing serious health and/or psychological consequences.

I don't know how much hope for the future of our country I hold out, but I do have some. I've been burned and disillusioned so many times by out corrupt electoral system, but still remain cautiously optimistic. Frankly I can't get too fired up about the Democratic primary, and that's probably a good thing. I will be OK with any of them, happier of course with some than others. Still, having a Democrat in the WH and stronger majorities in both houses is what counts most to me.

My husband and I have suffered, and survived, an almost unbelievable criminal act involving betrayal by a trusted family member. It has been like something out of a true crime book and the story isn't completely played out yet. If you have seen me less of late that is the reason. Prayers and happy thoughts appreciated, although I can't get into specifics.

Because of all these outer and inner experiences I've been blessed by the development of a stronger spirituality. I guess you could say I'm finding my way back to the only reality, God, although my path is my own, and not aligned with mainstream religion.

I am also blessed with a wonderful family, as well as this incredible DU support system. DU has seen me through the worst and best of times. So I just want to let you all know how much you mean to me this Christmas Eve.

Even though I do not post that often, I check DU daily and then some, for over 5 years. You guys (and gals) have felt like a fraternity to me......I didn't say family, because it would look rather dissfunctional as a family...
