The Next Big Battle Is Over Telecom Immunity - Don't Let The Primaries Drown It Out
Chriss Dodd will need all the support he can get when the Senate comes back to session. Please contact your Senators, Republican or Democrat, and give them an earful. No aspect of the national interest will be advanced if the telecoms are given immunity. Please support the Judiciary version of the revised FISA law or if not it will be better to pass no revision at all. Also, on the sunset provision of the law, make it sooner rather than later. It has been noted on the floor of the Senate that the FISA law has been revised on average once a year since its enactment - with that history there is no good reason to give the latest revision a 4 or 6 year sunset. Make it a year and let the next Congress and President reconsider it early in '09.
