I don't need a hero
Edited on Mon Dec-24-07 04:01 AM by Mythsaje
I don't need a soldier

I did when I was younger,

but now I'm so much older."

With thanks to Concrete Blonde for the lyrics...

What I want to see in a President is a fighter. Someone with a history of fighting and winning. Someone who's taken on the big corporations and walked away wiping the scum off his hands, not someone who spent years on the ropes, staggering from a pounding, or someone who thinks they'll play nice if WE play nice. We've BEEN playing nice, and day after day, year after year, it's been US who's had to bend down and pick our teeth up off the floor.

I want someone who KNOWS we have a fight ahead of us, who understands the very things we've been discussing here since Bushco stole the election. This country, and this world, is in very deep trouble. And we sure as hell don't need someone who wants to play along with the Republicans to continue on the same road on which we've been traveling up until now.

We need someone who understands the threat we face in climate change, who understands the threat we face in peak oil, someone with the vision to lead us into a better future.

It's going to take a hell of a lot more than one man, or one woman, to change the landscape. It's going to take all of us. But without one person running point, one person willing to take on the vested interests who'd oppose what needs to be done with every fiber of their being, we'll never be able to gain any traction whatsoever.

So I have one message to those who think WE think we need a savior, a messiah, or a hero. No, we need a decent, capable, intelligent human being who's willing to take on the hard work ahead, who's willing to stand up for what's right, and what's necessary.

And it's the same message I have for the Republicans. Get on board, or get the hell out of the way.

1. You are absolutely right
The thing that I admire most about John Edwards is that he is a worker. He is the hardest working man I have ever seen. He is using his money wisely, and I can only hope that he will use OUR money wisely as well. I want a Democrat back in the White House.

3. You're right on the money.
We need some balance in the country. We need jobs in this country. We need to stop selling this country. We need to bring our troops home. We need to take care of them. We need education and infrastructure. We need to restore the Constitution. It's long list and we have a lot to undo.
