Two and a Half Men...An affront to (religious right) Christmas celebrants everywhere? :-)
From our friends at WorldNut Daily and the wonderful "watchdog" (more like idiots!) AFA. This story is about an episode from last season, so watchers should know. I laughed hysterically, and really, really hope CBS had the decency NOT to apologize to these uptight fuckers.

HOLLYWOOD VS. AMERICA
AFA: 'Fornication' song requires network apology
CBS character using Christmas carol to brag about sexploits 'unacceptable'

CBS must apologize for having one of its television characters use a traditional Christmas carol to brag about his plans to sexually exploit a woman, according to the American Family Association.

On the Dec. 11 episode of "Two and a Half Men," actor Charlie Sheen is shown lighting candles and adjusting Christmas decorations, apparently in preparation for a party.

He's singing the melody of "Joy To The World," but the words have been altered to:

Joy to the world
I'm getting laid
I'm getting laid tonight.

We'll light the Yule log
Deck the halls
And then we'll play some
Jingle balls.

It's been a real long wait
This is our second date
It's Christmas Eve
And I'm getting laid.

The Tupelo, Miss.-based AFA said that's unacceptable to the vast majority of Christians. The association, with millions of supporters, takes Christian stands on gambling, "gays," pornography and abortion, and many other social issues. Its previous boycott promotions have been credited with having an impact on corporate behavior in America.

"CBS approved Sheen's adaptation of the favorite Christmas carol, making it into a vulgar sex song," said Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of the group. "The network and sponsors paid Sheen to mock Christ, Christmas and Christians. Many in the Christian community are growing tired of this bigotry by the networks and Hollywood."

A clip featuring the song can be found on the organization's website.

He also said the sponsors were Ford, Campbell's Soup, Hallmark and Zales.

After Sheen sings the song, his housekeeper/cook comes into the room and asks:
"Hey, I'm mixing up the eggnog. You want this broad lit up or just slightly glowing?"

"Well," says Sheen. "Let's see. We're celebrating peace on earth and good will towards all mankind, so let's get 'er plowed!"

"Hallelujah!" said the cook.

Earlier, Douglas R. Scott Jr., the president of Life Decisions International had raised the issue, calling the song "an affront to all of Christendom."

He said the network should not have allowed Sheen "to change the lyrics of 'Joy to the World' into a song that could be called, 'Joy to Fornication.'"

The television show, which has been described as a "comedy about men, women, sex, dating, divorce, mothers, single parenthood, sibling relations, surrogate families, money and, most importantly, love" never would meet the moral guidelines most Christian churches espouse.

But the song "crossed the line in a big way," said Scott, whose organization publishes a list of corporate names, subsidiaries, products, services and contact details for companies that support the nation's abortion industry leader, Planned Parenthood.

"Does nobody think this is wrong?" Scott asked when he talked with WND about the situation. "Does nobody go, 'Now, wait a minute?'"

"'Joy to the World' is a song about the birth of Jesus Christ. Yet CBS has allowed a song about the most precious, sacred and significant moment in history to be turned into a song about having sex outside of marriage," Scott said. "Is there any line that anti-Christian people in the media will not cross?"

Scott said the episode was something "one would expect from more well-known ungodly networks such as MTV."

And he noted nearly 70 percent of CBS stock is owned by Sumner M. Redstone, who also happens to control MTV.

Scott said he's written to CBS President Leslie Moonves with a copy to Redstone, with a demand for an apology.

"What's more," he wrote, "CBS needs to pledge that such bigotry and disregard for the sacred beliefs of billions of people will never again be displayed."

"Why have attacks on Christians and Christianity become so commonplace and even acceptable? No other group of people tolerates such treatment. I think it's time for a Christian anti-defamation league."

Such behavior by a television character played by Sheen, however, wasn't a complete surprise to LDI. His name is on the list of celebrities maintained by LDI who support legal abortion, officials said.

LDI said it would ask people to contact the two corporations with their comments at:

Leslie Moonves, CBS Corporation, 51 W. 52nd St., New York, NY 10019; phone: 212-975-4321.

Sumner M. Redstone, National Amusements Inc., 200 Elm St., Dedham, MA 02026; phone: 781-461-1600.

The television show is about Sheen, a "well-to-do bachelor" with a beach house, sports car and "an easy way with women," when his brother and nephew arrive to live with him. "Complicating" factors are appearances by his "mother," his brother's ex-wife, a neighbor and a house-keeper.

LDI said its pro-life efforts to date have convinced more than 125 corporations to stop funding Planned Parenthood, at a cost to the abortion industry giant of an estimated $40 million.

6. These people are insane
There really are no better words to describe them. In. Fucking. Sane.

As soon as someone ties them down and forces them to watch these shows they disapprove of, they will have a point. In the meantime I say we take up a collection and buy them all remote controls, as they seem to have lost theirs.

Good for the writers strike, maybe they'll rerun it pretty quickly. That show is hysterical, I love Berta, which is probably no surprise.

8. Dear AFA
Edited on Sun Dec-23-07 08:42 PM by Maestro
Fuck you, you hypocritical bastards! You are worried about a stupid song on a show that is on air for comedic entertainment. You must believe that your cult followers are very poor parents to get all riled up about this. The show is not for children really, older teens and young adults really. They can find the humor in the song. It's okay. Or were religious sensibilities just hurt? Fuck off! How about your religious sensibilities and all the dying going on the world, Iraq, Darfur, Afghanistan and right here in America? Have you heard what recently happened in NOLA? Why aren't you helping those families out who are losing their homes? Why do you still insist on supporting Dumbya and Darth? Don't answer! I detest hearing you open your mouth! Nothing that comes out makes any sense anyway.

Without any respect,

Maestro

9. You know what...why are these douch bags watching TV at all
Edited on Sun Dec-23-07 08:49 PM by MadMaddie
If they are so offended then they should turn the babysitter (TV) off and watch their damn kids. And if the knuckle draggers are offended as adults then they can turn the TV off too.

There are plenty of religious shows for them to watch.

These people want everyone in the US to be miserable like they are...I say they can go to Hell!

Oh yea....there's a war going on.....why don't they get offended by all the senseless death and destruction. Oh that's right it's the path to Armegeddon and that's okay....Assholes...

11. The only thing this show should be sued for is sucking.
Talk about your stereotypical comedy with completely unoriginal writing.

And about the AFA...fuck you. Not everybody in the U.S. are closeted homosexuals pretending to be hardcore bible-thumping Christo-fascists.

15. Perhaps I'm just jaded
I love the show. It's one of very few sitcoms I'll actually watch. It makes me laugh, which is more than I can say for a lot of other sitcoms. Right now, these people at AFA and other such religious right sites fail to realize that 3 of the 7 of the show's major characters are smart women, who are either very smart or have been gutsy enough to succeed regardless of the men in their lives--including Berta. While she might not be considered "book smart" in any sense, her character has raised a large family on her own as a single mother, and she can give as good as she gets from Charlie on a routine basis. That's a pretty good percentage, and I dare anyone to find that many such women on any of the other shows on the air.

As far as the "bimbos" are concerned, one of the recent women in Charlie's life was a U.S. District Judge--I would dare anyone to call that character a "powerless" one--these people prejudge a show based on a handful of episodes, and fail to see the irony in their protests.

:)
