What's a bootstrap?
I don't know if I've ever seen one. Have you? Do you know anyone who has them on their boots? Is it like a shoelace? Or like a jockstrap?

2. They are loops at the top of boots.
You put your fingers thru the loops and pull your boots up.

15. Curious, why do tankers need the straps?
Why don't regular laces work inside a tank? Do you guys operate the tank with just the lower cinch tightened to allow freedom like a low-top shoe?

16. You know, no one has ever explained it to me. I just liked the way they looked.
Also, they are a proud symbol of being a tanker. Jump boots were once forbidden to be worn by anyone who wasn't a paratrooper; now many different kinds of soldiers wear them. Tanker boots have remained the almost exclusive preserve of the tanker.
