CIGNA wishes the decedent's family well
Edited on Sat Dec-22-07 12:03 PM by PCIntern
during the Holiday Season...

Prayers, good wishes, God speed...everything except the fucking money, right?

Ya ever notice that God can win football games for wide receivers and quarterbacks, but He can't supply the money for a liver transplant. Guess you have to need one on a Sunday afternoon or, at worst, a Monday Night...or Thursday Night later in the season...or during the World Series. Then, He's paying attention.

Forgive me...it's just too much of a hanging curve over the plate. I'm looking at the CIGNA Bldg. outside my window here in Philly as I write this...

1. That is just a lame
attempt at some 'cover
your ass' PR by Cigna. This
story is big and it is going
to cost them. There is NO way
they can come out of this on
the winning end financially.

2. I can imagine their next step
"Say folks, because you have one less dependent, we aren't increasing your policy premium by as much as we had intended."

3. A terrible tragedy, only one of many in our for-profit healthcare system--BUT
the timing of this tragic occurrence helps to keep the focus on our corrupt, vicious healthcare system. If poor Nataline had to die, then at least her death (may I say her MURDER) may serve as a rallying point for all of us who want so desperately to change the system. If the loss of this beautiful young woman shortens the health industry's reign of terror over all of us, then she will not have died in vain.

5. I agree.. its murder... and the more we say its murder, perhaps things will
begin to change.. This was evil.. and I'm sorry, but those Dr.s who took the hypocritical oath (yes, I did spell it that way on purpose- sarcasm) should have placed the needed organ in that young ladies body.. they had the organ, they had the Dr.s, and they let her die because they wouldn't get her check.. So, a family gets to enjoy a Christmas of pain... There's a war abroad and there's a war in the home front... Who's going to win?

6. I agree with you...
interestingly, often the Doc will do it for free or nearly so...it's the hospital which will absolutely not allow it to be done.

I do plenty of pro bono dentistry - but there's no administration to tell me what to do.

I'm keepiing this issue kicked so to speak b/c it is possibly a catalyst the way Megan Kanka(sp?) was a catalyst for change.
