Big Deal== Senate staying in session
so bush can't name any recess appointments. Yep good idea, then they can vote to approve the irresponsible decisions as soon as they come back from Christmas Vacation. So why not let bush appoint whom ever he wants and save time.

1. Anything that can be done to slow bushco's destruction of America.........
is a good thing. Got to give Dems credit where credit is due.

3. Good idea....now if the Dems would quit confirming asshats like Mukasey it might mean something.
I am glad they are not allowing Bush to recess appoint nutjobs.....now the Senate has to stop doing it for Bush.

5. We have to be realistic
and keep the pressure on them to prevent their completely caving to Bush on everything.

They seem concerned about recess appointments but have no qualms about helping Bush get his agenda through Congress.

8. It is a big deal unless you liked Bolton and the right-wing judges he appointed
during recess. We're stuck with the RW judges.

Act 5,998 of the dog and pony show when they return from their wonderful holiday vacations.

I agree. At this point, what's the use of keeping up the pretense of a functional Democratic Party. We all know it's a fucking joke. We all know the judges will be confirmed, so what's the freakin' use of dragging poor Jim Webb's ass in from Virginia every 3 days? They just haven't figured out yet that we're on to their little game.....the dog and pony show will continue.

12. Glad to hear there won't be any of his filthy recess appointments, like the truly vile Otto Reich.
It's truly in the best interests of the entire world as we have known it.

Thanks for reminding us, for reasons different, apparently, from your own.

13. I applaud any sign of work from our Dems...
...but if they're just gonna confirm whatever corrupt fool * nominates, it doesn't mean a lot.

14. But Bush (or any president) only uses
recess appointments for nominees that wouldn't otherwise be approved.

I hate that even good news is always greeted with derision here.

20. I would celebrate, if I thought that there was a * nominee...
...that the current Senate wouldn't just rubber-stamp. Maybe there is another Bernie Kerik somewhere out there?

But it's no skin off *'s nose if his nominee simply has to practice saying "I don't recall" for a couple of afternoon Senate hearings. And it gives the senators some free air-time to speechify before a quick vote for approval.

and the Senators who will give up some of their break to be there: Webb, Schumer, Dorgan, Kennedy, Reed, Landrieu and Cardin.
