"My God, people, they're going to come over here! We lost 100 men a day in Vietnam
and didn't even blink!!!"

Quoted from insanely fearful chickenhawk RWnut Washington Journal caller. Obviously drinks extra strong koolaid laced with meth. How can these people be so afraid? Do they really believe that the people fighting each other in Iraq all have the resources and will to come over here and rampage in the streets? Reality has been for the past 5 years that anyone could have committed any act with impunity given the open borders and the preoccupation with color coded alerts and duct tape and plastic of this administration. Bottom line is that there are no guarantees of safety in this world.

2. Republican foreign policy derives from The Haunted Mansion ride at Disney World
At the end of the ride, you look in a mirror, and a ghost is in the seat next to you, following you home.

4. Yeah, let's wait until it gets to THAT point before having a serious discussion...
because if we lost 100 men a day in Vietnam, god knows we can do it again in Iraq!

5. Another GFC heard from
Gutless fucking cowards. That's the technical term for people too afraid to live in a free country, because somewhere, somebody might be plotting to hurt them.

I wish there was a way to smack people in the head with the reality that life is dangerous, and ordinary activities like mowing the lawn and driving to work are far more dangerous than terrorism.

Now, Iraqis have an excuse to limit their freedoms. Most secular, educated Iraqis would be THRILLED with a military coup that clamped down on freedoms right now, but they're living in hell. But Americans? For fuck's sake, people, when did it become OK for conservative men to hike up their skirts and jump up on a chair? John Wayne's spinning in his grave.

7. As Stonewall Jackson said, "Never take counsel of your fears". Because you let your
fears take over your rational decision making and get yourself stuck in a quagmire half way around the world.

10. The loss of other peoples' lives is no problem for them
Notice how they look at it in a blood-tribal way: as if their being alive is no different than the others being dead. "We" only lost 100 people per day in Viet Nam, it makes no difference whether or not it was me or another American guy. We're supposed to see it as no different, somehow, with that philosophy, between being one who died and one who sits at the keyboard.
