Just One Click: Email both your Senators and your Rep about H.R. 1955 / S. 1959
Edited on Fri Dec-21-07 02:48 PM by garybeck

There has been a tremendous amount of alarm expressed recently about H.R. 1955/S. 1959 , the self-titled "Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act of 2007", but which many have dubbed the "Thought Crimes Prevention Bill".

The language of the proposed bill is just an idle invitation to totalitarian mischief and must be rejected.

The one click form below will send your personal message to all your members of Congress selected below, with the subject "H.R. 1955/S. 1959 Is Too Flawed To Pass" At the same time you can send your personal comments only as a letter to the editor of your nearest local daily newspaper if you like.

1. Done. I always just put
Please vote (Yea/Nea) on XXXXXX. My vote for you is dependent on this.

I figure they don't care about my reasons or justifications, just whether or not they'll get my vote next time around,

2. Thanks. I know Chuckie and Benny and Lee will all rolls their eyes when
they get another bit of correspondence with my name on it. And I hardly think that my name will be in the Public Pulse of the editorial page of the Omaha Weird Harold.

But you know what they say, you GOTTA give it your best shot.

3. a lot of times, it is just about numbers
they get a report that says "we got 5000 emails about the bill" and that's what counts. so the more people you can forward it to, the better. I don't think they pay much attention to who it's from or what the text is, beyond support or opposition.

4. Probably not. But there are times. An aide from Hagel's office left a
message on my answering machine one day while I was at work.
