Every Single DU'er should email all the candidates about Natalie Sarkisian.
CIGNA "Health Care" has MURDERED a 17 year old girl by holding up a liver transplant, calling this ACCEPTED PROCEDURE "experimental."

I have emailed this message to EVERY campaign (with some changes for Edwards and Kucinich). It took 10 minutes. I figured even though I never knew her (and now never will) Natalie Sarkisian was worth 10 minutes of my time.

"THIS is what happens when you let INSURANCE COMPANIES dedicated to PROFIT run the health care system:

http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/local&id=5848163

Rest in peace, Natalie Sarkisian, and shame on the candidate if they continue to oppose Universal Single Payer Health Care."

If you support Obama or Clinton, you are MORALLY OBLIGATED to do this, as both of these candidates are solidly FOR keeping the "insurance" vampires involved in U. S. Health Care.

2. It would seem so often that PATIENT CARE is not a priority with
health care providers; making money is.

Pathetic that this would be allowed in America today, but profit before care is the business plan - state of the art procedures, equipment, and adequate care for patients are just ad slogans.

6. Patient Care is a priority with health care *providers*
Such as doctors, nurses, therapists, etc.

It's just not a priority with health care insurers. They don't provide the care, just pay - very grudgingly - for it. Almost all health care providers I know despise the for-profit insurance industry. We tend to froth at the mouth and mutter curses when mistaken for them.

We expect to get paid fairly for our time, education and care, but we don't expect to get filthy rich from it. We leave that to the insurance executives.

13. I've run across a few health care providers who have fallen right in step
with the insurance companies. Certainly not all of them, but I've run across a few who have the "the insurance company won't pay for it, so it's not an option" attitude. In my opinion, that isn't the best care. And doctors do have large organizations that could raise holy hell with the insurance companies and Congress about not being able to provide the care they feel they should and have it covered, but you don't hear much about it if they are.

By and large, I would agree that most doctors, nurses, therapists, etc., do want to provide the very best care for their patients, which is as it should be.

3. It's on GMA right now
It's great that such a mainstream show is calling attention to this. Cigna totally sucks.

5. It's not murder
In order to fit the definition of murder, it has to be unlawful. A legal act, no matter how morally reprehensible, is not murder. This is the same reason why abortion, despite the right's bleating, is not murder.

Now, denying her potentially life-saving treatment would fall under the heading of homicide by way of wilful negligence.

7. Let's not split legal hairs: let's talk MORALITY.
If Bush goes to the SCOTUS and they say everything he's done is LEGAL, does that make everything he's done MORAL?

10. Of course not
I trained in law (British) so it's in my nature to split legal hairs but yes, this situation is wildly immoral.

Just curious.

17. Somewhat
It can get just as bitter and partisan as your law courts but there's a tradition of civility and decorum which means we're better at hiding it. Essentially, a British lawyer is a guy who can tell you to go to hell so politely that you look forward to the trip.

18. I've heard that.
Maybe we should sue Cigna, Cheney, Bush et al using British Barristers. Maybe they can win the case before the bastards can even figure out they're being hung out to dry!

Yes, that is what is wrong with our system. A mandatory middleman for profit.

Hey, it worked for Mickey Mantle.

Really. Which American doesn't know how celebrity works?

Get famous and/or rich and your problem is solved. Get busy and grab those bootstraps!
