Help! Don't know what to do
I think I just found out something really stinky about a presidential candidate. I'm not sure what to do. If I ask their campaign, then what I found might get hidden away. I'm pretty darn sure of what I found but I am not willing to swear my life on it. It could be something done by an outside party but, well....what would you do?

15. I guess it would depend on whether you
like or dislike the candidate. If it is an attack on another candidate, contact that person's campaign office. Be sure to be able to back up the data.

30. Maybe you were set up!
this sounds like something Rove would do. Put something out there in a very discreet manner, knowing someone would find it, and hope they would act on it! Be very, very, sure you are not falling victim to a hoax!

27. Going to the media is iffy
You would have to be very careful who you talked to, and then they may not think it is worth anything. I can't give you any specific advice, since I don't know the details. There are only 2 journalists that I would trust with this and that is Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow. Thom Hartmann would be a third choice as he isn't considered a journalist.

We also have our own lala rawraw who works/owns http://rawstory.com . You can PM her and see if you have something worth while.

29. Hmmm... so this is publicly available info? You just have to use a tool you pay for to access it?
Sounds very interesting. I just wonder if the person to be affected by this already knows about it through their own anti-opposition research.

Most candidates today not only do oppo research on their opponents, but on themselves as well to head off potentially embarrassing information coming to light and blindsiding them. That way they are prepared in advance to address it if it surfaces.

35. Actually, it can be found without paying
But one has to be looking.

Granted, this could be the doing of an outside party, but if it's an outside party, then BOTH candidates should know.

32. This IS National Politics... I would not be surprised at anything you learned. I'd be suspicious ...
... if this is the type of information that others would most likely have already discovered but there is nothing in the MSM about it.

Lots of disinformation is 'planted' to spark a response from 3rd parties.

I think if it was true, some body in the MSM would have found out by now and it would be all over the papers and news. So I would think it was planted. And I sure would stay clear.

If it's a fact then it must come out. No matter who the candidate is. Sure you''ll get flamed if it's a Dem but would you rather spend the rest of your life wondering?

And in time everyone will have it. If it could hurt the Dems in a GE, I think you should carefully check it out. Contact the campaigns directly to see if it is legit.
