I'm ashamed to admit I never saw "Why We Fight" until just now.
It was always one of those "I gotta do this" but somehow never quite "got around" to it. My partner
got hold of a copy today. Everyone should view it.

1. It's a great film.....
I recommend watching it again with the director's commentary - it's a discussion between Eugene Jarecki and Lawrence Wilkerson. Wilkerson offers amazing insight.

2. He found it on some weird C-band satellite feed and burned a DVD
I guess it was the 'bare bones' version, I will look around for the one with commentary, thanks.

3. I really want to see it but as yet we haven't been able to find it
to rent at local video stores. Perhaps I shall break down and try to buy it from Buzzflash if it is still available there.

I've read comments that it kicks you right in the gut - does it?

11. Try a netflix intro subscription?
My favorite part is the Halliburton rep actually playing "3 card monte" with convention-goers and proudly proclaiming his employer's "collusion" with the federal government procuring agencies.
Netflix is always sending me intro offers--watch x many movies for free or something like that--even though I've been a subscriber for years.

Jareski's Why We Fight would make a great double feature with Iraq For Sale: The War Profiteers.

12. My favorite part was when McCain received the phone call from
Cheney as he was discussing war profiteering.

4. Everyone I know who has seen it tells me the same thing...
But I cannot go sit through a movie at the picture show.

And I do not allow War images into my house. I have enough problems of my own without that.

Maybe I can get my hands on a copy and take it somewhere and watch it on my laptop.

Your endorsement means a lot to me.

6. I've had this on my DVR for weeks
I think I recorded it from the Independent Film Channel or the Sundance Channel or something, and I keep forgetting it's there.

Thanks for the reminder!

9. I think that is right and everyone really should see it.
When a war has to be fought - this is what it looks like.

I'd just say this - my parents hated Reagan - hated him. I think reagan did well in the war progaganda movies, personally.

Goes to show you - say something bad about FDR and it haunts you. My voice all these years later - counts for shit - the officers that fought that war sure seem to know better in retrospect. Anyway - they need to count for twice as much as us in this - cause they knew the deal.

Joe

10. The Military Industrial Complex is going to be the downfall of this nation.
Unless something changes and fast, this is all going bye-bye.

15. Great documentary. I love the last line in it:
Why do we fight? Because too many people won't stand up and say no.
