I am so proud to be a Democrat

I'm proud that I belong to the party of anti-torture, the party of freedom, of human rights, of the Bill of Rights.

We ARE the party of the people, whether the people can recognize that, and get beyond the corporatist propaganda or not.

1. I am proud, too. I couldn't bear to be a republican with

all of the contradictiory things they have to believe in order to keep their consciences from exploding. The repubs have brought us nothing but vile and evil things in the years they have been in power, both in the Congress and in the White House.

2. Almost.

We have a few saboteurs. Why is Dodd having such a hard time with putting holds on legislation? Holds are usually given deference, especially by the leadership of one's own party.

3. Except for Reid and Pelosi....

I have a hard time telling people I am a proud Democrat with the likes of Pelosi and Reid....we need to reform the party, remove all of the Blue Dog Democrats, elect Progressives in their place and then we can call ourselves proud DEMOCRATS again.

6. There's a new wind blowing.......

Dodd, I think, is only the first to step up to the plate. The American people are SICK of this administration, and sick of the Republicans. It's only too obvious what it is doing to their pocketbooks. When gas prices go through the roof and people begin losing their homes, they start to pay attention to whose running the show. And, they begin to vote them out. I think that Dodd is only the first of many to "get the message."

What we have to watch out for is lowering our guard and thinking that they will do right without the people policing them. I've been a Democrat and involved in politics all of my life and this is the first time I've seen so many people so involved. They have begun to wake up. Now, they need to stay awake. We get the government that we deserve, you know?

And, yeah, I've been "paying attention to my Democrats lately." Particularly Dodd.
