You know what I'm missing?
A wikipedia entry. LOL. Sounds silly, but there you have it. I figure that any author who's written 7 novels should probably have his or her own entry promoting his or her work. And it's not as if I can march on over there and set it up myself. It would be in poor taste, for one thing. And against wikipedia rules, for another.

Some authors have floated the idea of submitting entries for one another but that strikes me as just too incestuous. Honestly, I think a fan should do it, at least initially. The author could come along later and correct any mistakes, perhaps, but...

I'm currently working on my eighth and ninth novels. Well, kinda. If I could just shift my focus away from the political rants for a while again. I suppose that's coming, sooner or later. I don't seem to be able to do both at the same time.

I wonder why? Maybe it's because it requires two very different kinds of reasoning...and writing. Arguments and analysis being much different than storytelling.

Heck if I know.

2. "It would be in poor taste, for one thing.."
That didn't stop the rethugs!!

They add and delete at their pleasure and not just on their own entries. :grr:

(At least that's what I've heard.)

I'd start one for you but I wouldn't know where to start.

I think I am registered there though but I haven't used that Acct. in years.

3. Wikipedia frowns on self-promotion...
And it's not a very well respected site... why bother?

Promotion is the name of the game.

10. I'm a fantasy author...
And a liberal. How respectable can I possibly be? How respectable would I want to be?

I seriously don't care.

22. That's sad...
You should care! There aren't enough writers in the world, and every one of them should absolutely care! I don't care if it's sci-fi, graphic novels, poetry, whatever. These things are important enough to care about in a world where there is little left that deserves as much thought.

23. I care about the stories. I care about the readers.
I don't care about pretending to be something I am not. I reject pretense. I reject artifice. People can either read my stuff because they like it, or reject it because they don't. I will not apologize for who I am or pretend to be something I'm not.

24. I have a reputation too. For writing fun, fast-paced, fantasy adventure.
That's the only reputation I need.

I pal around with romance authors, for gawd's sake. And I hang out HERE. I have nothing to hide, nor any reason to pretend to be something I'm not.

26. It just doesn't compute for me...
That you would be so protective of your writing in a public space, yet so cavalier... unless this is inference, in which case, I really don't care:)

6. You're fishing? For a Wikipedia entry?
And here I am trying to get my name out of the damn thing. They mention me once and they got it wrong. They mean my cousin. I went in and corrected it but nothing changed. I am not now nor have I ever been a film scholar.

28. I did edit it. I swear I did.
Of course, I'm not what you'd call experienced at Wikipedia. What is weirdest to me is that I have never met my cousin, although I occasionally get her phone calls. And mail. So far as I know, no one who knows her knows me, too. So who could have put my name instead of hers?

14. There's a question I've never been able to answer.
I've been asked. I just don't know. I do know that no reviewer has ever compared me to anyone. "Unique" is more typical.

I write futuristic urban fantasy.

11. Shit, just write your own. It's not a big deal and you'll give accurate information
You can tell from a few wiki entries that they're written by the subjects--they read like CVs or promotional materials. Don't go that far. But if you do an objective job, no one's gonna think less of you for providing some info your readers might find interesting.

Have you written anything about penguins? I hope not -- I hate penguins.

Send me some titles by PM, I'll read the books, and here comes Wiki!

No penguins. Big honkin' spiders and malicious mythical figures, sure. No penguins. I've got a were-seal though. And a were-orca. But still no penguins.

PM? I can give you the list right here. I can repeat them in a PM if you absolutely need me to.

:)

First I have the Infinity: Earth series.

Loki's Sin
Of Man and Monster
Freak City
Lady of Blades

Sword and Shadow (Book 1 of Infinity: Prime).
Tales from the Magitech Lounge Book 1 of Infinity: Empire
and (forthcoming in March) Death of Heroes, sequel to Sword and Shadow.

I'm currently working on book 3 of the Infinity: Prime series, "Pale Hand of Darkness" and book 2 of the Infinity: Empire series "The Sum of Humanity."
