Anyone else concluded Mitt Ron Popeil Romney isn't winning nothing?
Edited on Tue Dec-18-07 10:41 AM by NNN0LHI
I don't have anything specific against Mormons but the religious whack jobs I know wouldn't vote for one in a million years. They would sooner have (hush my mouth), HRC as president than this slick snake oil salesman.

Ain't going to happen Mitt. Get over it.

1. Yeah, I'm pretty much thinking the same thing.
If your professed delusional system doesn't match theirs pretty closely, you're an infidel. You have to mumble the mumbo jumbo and stay a little vague around the edges so each particular variety of whackjob can assume you're one of THEM.

2. It's like he's got a target on his forehead.
All the old divisive weaknesses are concentrated in Romney. Solid portions of the electorate are carving out against him.

The xenophobes freak out over his utilization of illegal labor.
The "social conservatives" cannot take his flip-flopping from his senate attempt where he tries to run to the left of Teddy.
The LA Times is now running the story of his involvement in off shore tax havens.

He's toast.

3. Except for Huckabee causing a few ripples
(And I won't go into how his scandals are just now hitting) I think religious conservatives are feeling pretty uninspired this year. Their top 3 candidates include a pro-choice, gay-friendly New York Catholic (you still find some anti-Catholic sentiments amongst the Protestant religiously insane), an old coot who criticized them in 2000 and is trying to suck up to them now, and a Mormon. And for all intents and purposes, all their religious leaders from big dogs like the late-not-so-great Falwell, Robertson, and others down to tent revival evangelists have been telling these social conservatives that Mormonism is a cult, and there's little Mitt can do to get through that viewpoint. Even if Mittens gets the nomination, and some of the anti-Mormon reverends do a 180 (Falwell would have; Robertson will; Dobson probably won't) and start telling their flocks to support Mitt, it will still be hard for the religiously insane branch to get up any enthusiasm to go out and vote for him.
