CLINTON SURROGATE KERREY LATEST TO TRY TO TIE CHRISTIAN OBAMA TO ISLAM -- HAS NOT APOLOGIZED YET

It's WORD ASSOCIATION TIME again. Let's see, Hillary says now the Fun Part starts, then there's Obama's fictitious Kindergarten ambitions by campaign Press Release, the circulated e-mail accusing him of being a "radical Muslim" by a Clinton County Chair in Iowa, the drug-dealing suggestion by Billy Shaheen, NH co-Chair, and now THIS, from Bob Kerrey, just after endorsing Hillary:

It's probably not something that appeals to him, but I like the fact that his name is Barack Hussein Obama, and that his father was a Muslim and that his paternal grandmother is a Muslim. There's a billion people on the planet that are Muslims, and I think that experience is a big deal.

THEN on CNN with Wolf Blitzer, Kerrey just brought up that Obama went to a "secular Madrassa", -he just had to drop the word Madrassa, and thinks adding secular makes it OK. The Clinton campaign is getting hit again -- don't they realize these dirty politics smears are backfiring? They must think it's working!

NEW YORK The big 2008 campaign kerfuffle today concerns remarks by former Sen. Bob Kerrey in endorsing Sen. Hillary Clinton yesterday.

After delivering his prepared remarks in Iowa, he was asked by a reporter (from the Omaha World-Herald, according to some sources) about Barack Obama. He said, "It's probably not something that appeals to him, but I like the fact that his name is Barack Hussein Obama, and that his father was a Muslim and that his paternal grandmother is a Muslim. There's a billion people on the planet that are Muslims, and I think that experience is a big deal."

After the Washington Post and ABC News and others carried these remarks far and wide, some campaign watchers on the Web charged that Kerrey was only the latest Clinton backer to stab Obama -- this time with the word "Muslim" instead of "cocaine."

Kerrey replied that his words were only meant in praise for Obama's potential to communicate abroad. Critics came back with: Why, then, the use of his middle name "Hussein," a favorite game of the far-right?

December 17, 2007 -- NEW SCHOOL President and former US Sen. Bob Kerrey just couldn't help himself from applauding Barack Obama after endorsing Hillary Rodham Clinton in Iowa yesterday - until he gave a left-handed compliment that almost sounded like it was cooked up in Clinton's headquarters.

"I like the fact that his name is Barack Hussein Obama, and that his father was a Muslim and that his paternal grandmother is a Muslim," Kerrey told The Washington Post.

"There's a billion people on the planet that are Muslims, and I think that experience is a big deal."

Obama brought reporters along just hours earlier as he attended church services in Iowa yesterday, hoping to dispel false Internet rumors that he is a Muslim.

Hillary Clinton will never apologize for this one. I predict she will say, it's all true, it was a compliment! I'm sure Mark Penn slipped in "that experience" line too. That's Obama's big experience -- he's a Muslim!

So, for one to accept that Kerrey meant ill, one must also assume that he made the statement hoping that it would be misinterpreted.

Madrassah is the Arabic word for any type of school. Obama went to a school in an Arabic country, so he did indeed attend a madrassah, in his case a secular one.

I understand that you (and many) believe that the word is an inflammatory one, but it does happen to be accurate.
