All you DU members still happy with Give 'em hell Harry????

He sucks. Mr. Appeaser. It's time to replace him. Scared of public opinion. Bush keeps trying to rewrite the Constitution and Harry just lets him do it. I think he's a goddamn Rethug at heart.

Is there any Democrat with the balls to get the job done in the Senate??

6. Funny; the Republicans never had much trouble getting things done even though they never had "67".
Or even "61".

Maybe Democrats just aren't very effective at this
governance business?

12. The Democrats should have filibustered more, yes. We're seeing now how effective it is.

They aren't suffering from massive head injuries, and they aren't mentally retarded. They knew what filibusters were back then.

8. Simplistic bullshit.
The votes that count are the votes that put these senators in office - and THOSE votes say that Bush is at 30% popularity, Cheney at less than 20%, and the popularity of congress below even THAT, mostly because of congress being unwilling to exercise their majority and drag the republicans to heel.

Every time a fucking blue dog casts a loving eye at the Republicans, our leadership should be all over his ass, letting them know that they are NOT going to be re-elected with no Democratic funding. If the DLC had backed Lamont instead of the NON-DEMOCRATIC challenger, Lamont would have easily beaten the repuke in that race and we'd have one solid seat more than today.

Don't talk about 'slim majorities'. Talk instead about denying ALL support to turncoats and replacing them with progressives if they don't get in line. I don't care how red your state is - there are progressives EVERYWYHERE, and many of them seated in very red states. A blue dog is just a republican of a different color.

11. Oh, you're right. By getting rid of Blue Dogs in the House,
we'll be able to overcome a united Republican front in the Senate. How silly of me.

2. Somebody powerful called in a favor to Harry Reid. I can't explain it any other way.
I can't explain why he would advance the FISA bill with the telecom immunity provision unless he owes somebody very powerful a very big favor.

7. I can
He's taken enough campaign money from the telecoms to burn a soppin' wet elephant.

Money talks. And in Reid's case, it screamed in his ear.

I would guess this kind of business Reid is in is "off the books."

And I am picking up that letter I told you about tomorrow, Selatious.

Now if I can figure out how my never-been-used scanner works...

3. Well, I started calling for his replacement 6 months ago...
Maybe Nancy can share the same taxi on the way out.

Yes, we need leaders willing to stand up for those that put them into power. Listen to Russ Feingold for the type of leader I assumed we were electing. No more sheeple!

4. I agreed with you a year ago and still do. Harry is a nice guy...TOO NICE!
I heard one of the talk show hosts saying this today too. We need someone who is strong enough to fight the Pubs without fear! I'm inclined to say the same about Nancy! he can sound good sometimes, but when the rubber hits the road, she falls down!

Edited on Tue Dec-18-07 09:00 AM by DainBramaged
He can kiss my wrinkled old ass if he thinks that being a nice guy in Washington gets him anywhere.

And for the hundreds who look but won't comment,

Where are we??? Stuck in a morass of appeasement and non-committal to victory over the same thugs who have cascaded this country into the abyss at the expense of the Middle class and on the backs of the poor.

You want a fiefdom? just keep looking and don't forget to comment on the latest Jacko photos in The lounge.

is all talk and no action. Today when he brought up both bills he proved his worth...nada. I say Dodd takes over NOW.

20. How would they go about removing him?
What's the procedure.
I have two repub senators, so they can't help. I would be happy to contact anybody else, if it would get Reid out of his leadership position. What do the rules say about his removal? Can they do it now?

If so, contact your Democratic Senators and impress on them how important this is. I'm sick of Democrats tolerating this Soviet-style espionage on US Citizens.

23. Let's put a Dem in the white house and strengthen our majorities
and then we'll accomplish some stuff. And it's tough when we follow ethics and the other side doesn't don't you agree? Dems allow bills to come to an up or down vote, Repubs don't. It's up to us to persuade our reps (of both parties) to vote the right way.
