Max Cleland to get elected. Trashing a badly wounded Vietnam vet as unpatriotic while he himself received student and medical deferments is simply unforgiveable. This man(?) epitomizes what is wrong with the typical southern republican senator of today; arrogant, corrupt, shameless, and totally without any sense of morals. Cornyn is another, as is Mitch McConnell.

But if forced to choose just one, Jomentum gets the lifetime achievement award for a body of work that features continuous sniveling, lying, back-stabbing, war-mongering, groveling, preening, Bush-kissing (ass and face for the daily double), power-playing, obstructing, religious posing, more war-mongering and being dead wrong in public on just about everything under the sun.

Plus it turns out he's a sore loser after all, and a manipulative one at that. Instead of accepting his ass kicking by Ned Lamont and going off to the great kibbutz in the sky, he decides to run as some creature called an independent democrat or a democratic independent or some semantic invention that allows him to rise from his crypt yet again and inflict himself on the people of Connecticut (who really should know better by now). Worse yet, as the senator who gives democrats their majority (for whatever good that seems to be doing), he gets to inflict his uniquely obnoxious politics on the rest of us as well.

How about a recall campaign? How about a nationwide effort to unseat this pig? How about forming a national citizens task force to rid us of this opportunist? I'd donate in a heartbeat; maybe volunteer time for phone banking and such; offer business services for free. Whatever it takes to make this asshole go away and put Lamont in his seat.

Would such a campaign get off the ground? Could it actually accomplish the objective? If so, what the hell are we waiting for?
